As expected, the director's assistant came back a few minutes later with the most predictable reply, "My deepest apologies, Miss Turner, the investor of this project has recommended his girlfriend for the lead role, so..."

The assistant then waved a universal 'You know what I mean' hand gesture. His actions and words were executed in a calm demeanor as if it was a typical situation that he had to deal with everyday. Not a single proper apology came out of his mouth either!

Despite the fact that her heart was boiling with rage, there was nothing else Danica could've done. She merely gave a polite smile and said, "Don't worry about it, I hope well be able to work with each other next time! Goodbye!"

It was nothing more than a courteous greeting. However this time, she left without the usual handshake etiquette that she would've done for most auditions. Being mentally tortured and frustrated throughout the day, she felt thoroughly exhausted from inside out as she came to realize the brutal truth of being a part of that society!

As she made her departure, a sense of hatred and contempt began to pile up deep inside her heart.

Danica gritted her teeth as she angrily said, "Why? Do I really have no other choice but to give in?"

As she fell into agony, a 'click-clack' sound was then heard by her. Danica looked up and saw a stiff-looking woman dressed in a charmingly red top. Her full-bosomed body indicated her wealth; it was obvious that she was a masterpiece who had undergone plastic surgery with that pretty face. She was definitely much older than her appearance!

Shortly after, the assistant whom she had met earlier emerged out of nowhere. He gave his best attitude and brightest smile to welcome the glamorously dressed woman. A wider smirk then came through the edge of her lips.

This industry was clearly unfair and it couldn't have been any worse!

She obviously didn't have any better traits to compete with the others in the audition room!

Despite being the only one that stood out from the crowd of candidates, Danica had no choice but to allow this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to slip through her fingers.

It was the toughest moment for her to bring herself back to her feet; it was as though a thousand pound weight was placed upon her.

After pressing the elevator's button, she hopelessly looked as the elevator opened and closed before she entered it. Right then, two pretty girls came dashing through the door just before it closed. One of the girls had a phone in her hand as they giggled,

"Wow, he's so handsome! They're perfect together!"

"Oh, the woman from the club that Mr. Clements was obsessed over is actually his wife! No wonder she was addressed as Misty Swift; she's indeed an enigma!
