"Caroline? Why are you here this late at night?"

Alicia couldn't help but chuckled at the sight of Caroline's timid gaze and subtle movements. From the looks of it, she was really afraid of Frederick!

All of a sudden, she was reminded of her first visit to the Clements family. Alicia remembered the look on Hallie's face when she gazed at her. Right then, Alicia raised her hand and held Frederick's arm as she tried to smooth things over.

"Caroline's car broke down, so Nicholas dropped her off at our place on his way back!"

As she said this, she quietly pinched Frederick twice as an indication for him to stop prying any further!

At that moment, Nicholas said, "Yeah, don't worry about it. I'll be leaving first!"

Alicia pulled Caroline to her side and said, "Caroline, let's go in! It's a rare occasion to have you over, plus I've just made some snacks. Come on in, you must give it a taste!"

After dragging her into the house, Alicia then brought out a pair of fresh clothes that she wasn't wearing and handed it to Caroline.

"Here, go change your clothes first! Don't let Frederick worry about you and question you any further. We're about the same size, so you should be able to make do with them for now. They're brand new, even the price tag hasn't been removed yet!"

"Thank you, Alicia!"

"You don't have to be so polite! We're a family! You better get going now!"

Alicia deliberately chose a high- neck shirt for Caroline which perfectly covered the scar on her neck. Shortly, Caroline then breathed a sigh of relief once her clothes were changed.

Back in the living room, she couldn't help but felt a little nervous when she saw Frederick, "Frederick..."

"Well, you came to my place in the middle of the night, so I'm guessing you were caught up in some kind of trouble, weren't you?"

"No..."

Right as Alicia walked out with a bowl of sweet soup in her hands, she saw Frederick scrolling through his phone on the sofa just like an old man. On the other side, Caroline was scared out of her wits while she tightly gripped onto her clothes until it wrinkled.

Why was she so afraid of Frederick? Alicia thought.

"What's wrong with you? Why don't you let her sit down before you talk to her?"

As she placed the bowl of soup on the table, Alicia glanced sideways at Frederick and instantly pulled Caroline down to take a seat. "I made some sweet soup. There you go, have a bowl to warm your body!"

The key was to ease the hangover!

At that moment, Alicia wondered why Caroline had reeked of a strong stench of alcohol.

For the sake preparing to have a child, Frederick had his alcohol and tobacco consumption under control. Hence, Fredrick was very sensitive to the scent of alcohol and cigarettes. Although Alicia had kept Caroline and Frederick far apart from each other, he was still able to smell the faintest stench of alcohol on her.

"So you're really all grown up, aren't you? It seems like you even know how to get drunk now."

His words frightened Caroline so much that the spoon in her hand had instantly fallen into the bowl. It wasn't long before the subconscious fear in her emerged once again.

"What on Earth happened to you? Do you really want me to go get someone to check up on you?"

Upon hearing that, Caroline's face immediately turned pale in fear. As soon as Alicia noticed it, she quickly said,

"Why are you so worked up? You should have a bowl of sweet soup yourself, I just made it! Can't you just calm down and be polite to her? Caroline isn't your daughter, so you shouldn't be too fierce towards her!"

After all, Fredrick had no rights to scold her. Alicia genuinely felt that he was too stern and overcautious. Moreover, Caroline wasn't a child anymore and her parents were still alive!

In an instant, Caroline was jaw dropped, and she stared at him for a very long time. On the other side, Alicia merely smiled and remained quiet.

Shortly, Frederick hung up the phone and returned it to Caroline as he said, "Girls need to learn how to protect themselves. You better be careful and don't repeat the same mistake!"

"Thank you, Frederick!"

"If you feel like staying for the night, then you're more than welcome to do so. Iff you wish to leave, I'll take you home then!"

In the end, she chose not to bother them any longer. Caroline sat for a while more as she continuously whispered to Alicia. Soon after, she asked the driver to send her back as she didn't want to trouble Frederick.

In the blink of an eye, it was already Trevor and Victoria's wedding day. At Grand Century Hotel, a majestic wedding was already in full swing.

At first, the two of them didn't plan for their wedding to be so extravagant, but it somehow did not turn out as planned. Trevor was getting married, and they were a perfect match for each other. Thus, the relatives and friends of both sides also worked hard and spared no effort to support them. All three floors of the banquet hall were completely reserved for this wedding. Although the wedding was a little rushed, they didn't cut corners at all. The venue was mostly decorated with the tulips that Victoria adored. Moreover, they were imported from all over the world. Their wedding was magnificent, but it wasn't open to the public.

To Victoria's disbelief, the wedding that she wasn't looking forward to, had lived up to her expectations. Everything seemed to be specifically prepared for her. Most importantly, Trevor really treated her like the apple of his eye.

Both the marriage and the wedding were absolutely perfect, except for the fact that she wasn't in love.

In the dressing room, Victoria wore a simple white lace wedding dress which outlined her graceful figure. The dress allowed her natural beauty to be wonderfully picturesque. Besides that, her hair was also groomed in a simple style. The tips of her hair were curled as a few small hairpins embedded with crystals held them together. The white lace wedding dress was a beautiful embellishment that complemented her innocence.

Alicia sighed continuously as she adjusted Victoria's hair ornaments,

"You're so pretty! You're the most gorgeous bride I've ever seen! Vicki, we're going to be a family soon! No matter what happens, we must stick with each other and live happily together!"

As she held her hand, Victoria was uncertain whether she was happy or sad. Looking at her own reflection in the mirror, she suddenly became confused.

She had longed for happiness, yet an unforeseen thought flashed across her mind, "Will I truly be happy after this?"
