In the interim, Frederick had seen her post and was shocked by the caption. "Time flies, but will I never forget?"

If she had never forgotten his words, did that mean she had finally realized what he was trying to tell her?

His heart shattered into million pieces upon reading the caption. Though he didn't realize that the two cats represented Alicia and their child, he could see the protective and caring look of the big cat in the photo. Instead, he thought that Alicia had understood his intention of trying to protect her.

For once in a long while, a hint of a smile revealed at the corners of his mouth.

Danica's health had terribly fluctuated ever since she was sent to the hospital. Frederick had to buy time for his plan. Thus, even if he didn't care whether she lived or died, he might need to keep an eye on her before everything was settled.

On this day, after the meeting was over. Frederick met with Chet back in his office. "How is it going? Is everything ready?"

"Yes, it's all up to you now. We found someone to open the safe and the pill was recreated successfully. According to test results from Master Vives, the pill is practically effective and can remove most of the toxins, but it contains a special substance which effect is still unknown. However, Master Vives said that it's just a matter of time to figure out what exactly the substance is. By the way, the x-ray results proved our guess. The other half of the pill was indeed stitched in the wound on her thigh. Frederick, Danica is so mean to herself. I heard about people get paid for hiding drugs inside their bodies before. But what on earth is Danica doing this for? The doctor even said that her wound was showing signs of inflammation."

With a sneer, Frederick replied,

"She is doing this to stop me from getting the pill. She put one on the table to see if I was trying to get the pill, and another one in the safe for herself. I bet both of them are real pills. It serves as double protection for herself because she doesn't trust me. Let the doctor inform her about the inflammation on her wound. I want to see what she's going to do next. Don't stop her."

When Chet's eyes met Frederick's, it all clicked in his head. Chet asked in return, "So, we open the safe and search for the pill at the same time? "

Would now be the right time to open the safe?

Frederick nodded and stood up, saying, "Come on, let's go to the hospital again. It's almost time. I hope she learnt a lesson from this. Things will be easy for us if she is willing to confess everything."

Frederick's phone suddenly rang just as he got up from the sofa. He frowned soon after he picked up the call, yelling on the phone, "What did you say? You rubbish!"

Furious, he threw his phone on the ground with an ear-piercing bang.

"Frederick?" Chet asked carefully.

"Danica is missing!"

"What?" Chet let out a cry and was startled for a moment. "Wasn't she hospitalized?"

"They said that she didn't feel well last night and took a walk in the corridor. Then she was gone! Come, let's go to the hospital!"

At the hospital, Frederick's face turned red with anger after learning the situation and watching the surveillance footage. He threw a fit and swept a pile of files off the table.

There was dead silence in the room. Everyone held their breath and silently got up from their seats. Chet gestured to all the staff to leave.

He spoke again after a moment of silence.

"I've been letting her lead me by the nose for too long! You're right, it'll be better to stay where we are and wait for her. Get the monitoring system ready at the traffic and the hospital. We'll wait for her to show up. Open the safe first. As for this man, find him!"

As of now, he had nothing to hold against Danica to make her comply. Frederick's eyes fell on the doctor on the screen again, and he vaguely felt that this person might be the key to uncovering Danica's plan.

After that, he and his men went to Danica's house for a thorough search. Although he tried his best to keep everything in place, he meticulously searched every nook and cranny.

During her stay in Bayton City, Alicia had been posting a lot on her social media but hadn't received any response from Frederick. However, thinking of her baby, her mind was soothed again.

Joyce checked her pulse frequently. Alicia was totally amazed by Joyce's self-care routine. At the age of sixty, Joyce had a lively complexion, which was pretty admiring. This was the first time that Alicia felt the magic of nature, a kind of vigorous vitality. Much to her surprise, Joyce didn't use high- end beauty products often, instead, she took special care of her diet. Proper cleansing, moisturizing and sunscreen were always a big part of her self-care routine. Besides, the face cream Joyce used was one of the cheapest and old- fashioned on the market.

After having a few conversations with Joyce, Alicia had learnt a lot from her. Including the herbal dish in her diet together with the improvement of the food combinations had helped a lot with Alicia's health and she could clearly see the changes in her body. She also felt the changes in her body. Even her stool color had turned from black to the normal yellow.

Joyce was planning to go abroad to attend a medical conference. Since Alicia didn't receive any news from Frederick, she decided to get her life back on track. Hence, she left the city and boarded the plane with Joyce.
