Rachel did not say a word, she only tried to broaden the distance between them and make things not so steamy by gently pushing his chest. 

David lowered his eyes and looked at Rachel’s trembling eyelashes. There was a faint smile at the corner of his eyes. He leaned over and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Don’t be afraid. I will never cross the line. against your will, not until you agree and allow me to.” 

Hearing this, Rachel was secretly relieved. 

Then, David spoke again, “But also, don’t make me wait too long.” 

He had never spent so much energy and effort on anyone, not even on a 

woman. 

Only Rachel. 

She was the exception and the only one. 

There were tons of women out there, and he knew that more than anyone. If he wanted to, he could have these women swarming at him to let him pick and choose however he liked, yet all that paled in comparison to Rachel’s sudden appearance in his life.

never had before. 

“I’m sleepy,” David said softly. 

Rachel did not reply, she closed her eyes and quietly snuggled in his arms. 

A quiet environment is the best sedative. Breathing in the soothing smell around her, Rachel gradually fell asleep unknowingly too. 

It was only when her phone rang that she suddenly awoke. 

As she looked up, she was secretly relieved to see David was still sound asleep. She pursed her lips and quietly retreated from his arms, then tiptoed out of the guest room. 

The call was from Lucas Johnson. 

“The share price of the Smith family has dropped. Do you want to take advantage of this time to do something?” 

“Are you thinking about acquiring the Smith family?” Rachel asked. 

Lucas said, “The Smith family and I are not compatible.” 

In other words, he was not interested in the Smith family. 

Rachel poured a glass of water and said unhurriedly, “I’m not interested 

either.” 

Her goal was to destroy the Smith family bit by bit, not waste money and 

save them. 

However, before she could finish speaking, Eleanor’s voice came through the phone. “Rae–Rae, the Smith family is absolutely awful! They’re a nest of ingrates! Especially that Jane Smith! Don’t they see it? If you hadn’t worked so hard for the Smith family all these years, would the Smith family be where they are today? 

And to make you kneel and apologize? How dare she?” 

Ever since Old Mr. Johnson brought Rachel back, he had been treasuring her so much, not letting her get bullied or hurt even in the slightest, let alone let her kneel down and apologize. 

For Jane to force Rachel to kneel down and apologize, she was seeking a shortcut on the highway to death! 

“Eleanor, don’t be upset. It didn’t cause me any substantial harm, did it?” 

Rachel smiled.
