Kelly’s POV

The bomb threat on the company created chaos. After my three week break, I decided to go back to work. I’m managing my father’s company and I completely stepped down from my mom’s company and gave the authority to Sara. Matt is now working in a hospital while Mason is helping Sara manage the company. He’s also taking care of the sunflower plantation and the hacienda that our family left to us. It’s not like I don’t want any connection with them. It’s just that I think they deserve the riches of the Foster family more than I deserve it. Besides, I already have my dad’s company and assets, I’m already content with what I have.

Her evil smile slowly faded and her eyes burned with anger. There was a truck coming and I figured what she’s going to do. I tried to run away but she grabbed my hair and pulled me back. I screamed and asked for help as she tried to push me to the road.

My mind went blank. I could only think about saving myself to be able to save the baby inside me. Lexi used all her strength to push me to the road but since she looked unhealthy, one pulled from me and she forcefully let go of me. My eyes widened and I screamed when the truck hit her and she rolled on the road. I gasped as I stared at her body lying on the ground. The people watching us earlier started crowding Lexi. My throat went dry as I ran towards her. I cupped my mouth when I saw blood staining the road.

I kneeled beside her. She’s unconscious and it looks like she’s already fighting for her life.

“Call an ambulance, please,” I told the people around before I looked at Lexi again.

“Lexi...” I cupped her cheek. “Lexi...”

“I saw her trying to push the pregnant woman. It’s her fault.”

“Call an ambulance!”

“Is she dead?”

People are murmuring but I don’t care about them. I focused on Lexi as I tried to stop the bleeding on the side of her head by putting pressure on it with the help of my handkerchief. The ambulance came after a while. She was immediately given first aid before she was brought to the ambulance. The police immediately asked me about what happened after giving me a towel. I told them the truth and since there are witnesses around, it was proven that it was an accident.

I sighed as I stared at the blood on the road. A car abruptly stopped in front of me. Pierce got out of the car and rushed to me. He pulled me for a hug as he whispered. “Were you hurt?”

I shook my head and looked up at him. “Pierce, it’s Lexi...”

He clenched his jaws and hugged me again. “I’m just glad that you’re okay.”

I sucked my breath and licked my bottom lip. “She tried to push me.”

I heard Pierce cursed under his breath and brushed my hair using his fingers. I squeezed my eyes closed and swallowed hard. Pierce pulled away from the hug again and took his coat off. He put it on my shoulder to cover me since my chest was wet from the ice coffee. He gave the towel back to the police before he carried me in his arms in a bridal way and brought me to his car.

“Where are we going?” I asked curiously.

“We need to get you checked. You said she tried to push you. Your body was forced.”
