Luca’s POV
I started to absorb what he had just said, knowing that he was very right to worry but those same thoughts had crossed my mind almost as soon as he had told me he’d be coming back here.
“Well, I’ll start to search around to make sure everywhere is safe before he’d be able to come back here, starting from tonight, because I honestly don’t think it’s completely safe for him to just come in like this.” I said to him after a few moments and watched as he started to nod his head at me slowly in the next second.
“That’s the best thing that we’re supposed to do, I’ll start to check around as well.” James said in the next second and paused then seemed to be like he was deep in thoughts, but then after a few moments, he started to speak once again. “You know, I think a lot of people think he’s already dead, don’t you think so?” James started to say and I huffed out a small laugh at his words in the next second.
“Of course they had, that was the kind of thing I was going for when I sent him away to begin with, I thought I told you about it.” I informed him and at this point, he had finally let go of my elbow and was instead running his fingers through his hair in the next second before starting to speak. “I might have forgotten about that, you know it’s been so long since we both really talked about it.”
“Yeah, yeah. Let’s get going then, we’re already running late as it is.” I said to him as I walked past him and started to make my way towards the door, knowing that he was going to be falling into steps behind me.
“You know, I think you’re trying to be done with everything today here at the office really fast just so you can go back home to your wife.” James called out behind me and I paused in my steps and lifted my have off the handle of the door which I had been about to pull open a fleeting moment ago, and I turned around slowly until I was staring at him.
“You think so?” I asked him once I was sterimg at him with my eyebrows raised at him and my lips pulled in a lopsided grin as well. James rolled his eyes at me as he rolled his eyes and folded his hands on his chest before starting to speak. “Yes, I know so.”
He paused and shook his head as a small laugh poured out of his mouth, right before he decided to continue. “I mean. It’s so freaking obvious that you’re so into her, you smitten whore.” He huffed out at me and I couldn’t help but laugh at that before puffing out my shoulders and starting to speak.
“Oh yeah? Maybe I am smitten, what’s up with it?” I demanded with an eye roll and a small huff, I mean, it was pretty obvious that I was so into her, there was no use for me trying to deny it at this point, because what’s the point.
“You’re not even trying to deny it, wow.” James echoed out and I rolled my eyes at him in the next second as I moved as little in my spot on the ground until I was leaning my back against the flat and neat surface of the door in the next second.
“Why should I try to deny it?” I demanded almost instantly with one of my brows raised high up at him.
“Because that’s completely unlike you, you’d have denied it instantly when you were not married yet, you know?” He pointed out and I shook my head a little before pushing myself off the door and starting to make my way over to him in the next second. I paused before him and placed my hand on his shoulder as I started to start to speak almost instantly.
“Well, don’t you think that’s because those other girls back then in the picture were not Sofia?” I asked him in a low voice, staring into his eyes and tapping a little on his shoulder. He snorted a little in the next second.
“Let’s get going already.” I decided to say to him instead of answering his question which he had asked me and I watched as he rolled his eyes at me instantly, catching on to what I was trying to do in the next second.
“Are you seriously going to try to not answer that question right now?” He demanded with a small laugh and a shake of his head as he started to slowly make his way towards where I was standing.
“I’m not trying to do a thing, we should just get going to the meeting already.” I said to him in response and watched as he snorted in the next second.
He reached forward and shoved me a little in the middle of my chest before starting to speak. “You motherfucker, you’re just trying to not answer the question, because since when did you start to freaking care about being on time to meetings this way?” He demanded in the next second as he pinned me with a pointed look which I’d most definitely classify as a knowing look as he said those words to me.
I rolled my eyes at that in the next second as I shiver his hand from my chest as I made to speak. “Since right this moment, obviously,” I said to him in the next second and watched as he didn’t even bother to hide his snort and the fact that he didn’t buy what I had just said one bit.
“You’re hopelessly in love, my dude.” He said to me in the next second and I pursed my lips instantly, not bothering to say a thing to that because I felt like it would be completely pointless at the moment. James, who had instantly taken my silence and lack of argument as the right answer, started to speak in the next moment. “Look at you being shamelessly in love and you’re not even trying to hide it.” He continued to speak and I rolled my eyes at him in the next second and lifted my hand up to flip him off almost immediately.
