Luca’s POV
It’s been two days since the day James had come over to my house right from the office for us to plan out some things in preparation for the arrival of my little brother. Everything had moved on really super fast after that particular day, I had ended up talking to Sofia about him one day ago, because I just know it was going to be bad for her to not know some things about him until she’d be seeing him in person when he’d finally arrive – and also because I have been wanting to share that part of myself with her for a while now.
And finally, today, James and I were heading to the airport together to go get him.
Dare I say that I was feeling a little bit weird inside of me. It wasn’t a bad weird feeling, I think it was just me still trying to completely grasp the fact that I was going to finally be setting my eyes on my baby brother.
I know he wasn’t a baby anymore and was now a full grown up, but that image of him always needing me to protect and care for him just wouldn’t leave my head, no matter how long has passed since that had happened, which was why I was still referring to him as a baby brother in my head. I was sure he wasn’t going to be needing to hide behind me anymore like he dye when we were growing up together.
I Just knew that I was going to have to control myself from taking him into my arms when I’d finally set my eyes on him. Because we weren’t supposed to be having that kind of emotions in ourselves to begin with, and I wouldn’t want there to be a situation whereby he’d start to be in the front of the news, so I was barely going to make it known that my long lost brother was finally home. It was a good thing that a lot of people had just assumed that he was already dead. I wouldn’t blame them for coming to that conclusion since that was part of what I had wanted to happen when I had made arrangements for him to be sent out of the country.
I Just know that he might have ended up dying at a point if I had not done what I had done when I had done, and I was sure that assuming my father was still alive back then, he wouldn’t have agreed for him to be sent out or the country to go live a completely different life.
“You alright, man?”
I nodded my head at the question which James has just asked me, echoed around inside of my head a little, without bothering to turn my head around to state at him.
Was I even alright at the moment? I think I am… I’m just feeling a little bit weirded out in a way, that’s all.
“Are you sure?” Jamea continued after a couple of minutes and I decided to make use of my voice this time.
“I am.”
“You’ve been really quiet throughout the whole of today.” James pointed out and I shrugged my shoulders a little before starting to speak after about a minute.
“That’s because I don’t really have a thing to say.”
My phone vibrated on my thigh and I picked it up and slid the notifications box downwards in the next moment, clicking on the new message Witt was from Sofia. Along the line, I’ve taken her phone and added my number into it and then I’ve encouraged her to send me a text anytime she wanted to, and I also got her contact that same day. After that particular day, we’ve been talking oh and off… sometimes we don’t exchange more than a few words over the phone and other times, we spend a lot of time talking a whole lot.
As soon as the message opened, I ghosted my eyes over it and started to type back a response in the next moment.
“James?” I called out after a moment and turned my head around to find him watching me. He arched his brow questioningly when I kept on staring at him without saying a thing.
“Thank you for agreeing to come with me for this today.” I said to him and I watched as he blinked at me before starting to roll his eyes a little.
“Of course I’d come with you, I can’t believe you’re thanking me for that at this very moment.” He said in an unbelievable voice, as he managed to roll his eyes once again. I smiled a little before starting to speak.
“That’s because I just once again realize how much strength I draw from your presence alone in moments like this.” I pointed out to him and I watched as he rolled his eyes once again.
“You still don’t need to thank me, it’s not like you’re not helping me in that same way as well.” James pointed out after a couple of moments. We exchanged a few more words after some seconds and at the end of the whole thing, we were both chuckling a little. My phone vibrated a little and I picked it up to check out who it was.
It was from Sofia and it was a video which she had made of her in the back of the car. As soon as I had clicked on the video for it to start to play, I couldn’t focus on a lot of things apart from her grinning face, her wide blo n eyes which were framed with a little bit of aurled, rtificial lashesnand dsmokey ye makeup, and on yed the low cut of the front of the dress she currently had on.
“Damn man.” I heard James start to say behind me shoulder before I seven knew that’s he was staring into my phone. I turned my head around to stare at Jamea just as he started to pull away, and befute I could start to say a thing, he was already speaking.
“Damn, she looks so good.” He said after a moment and I gave a nod of my head because he had just said nothing but the truth. The urge to not show that video that James had gripped me at first, right before a little bit of jealous had started to move through my body at the thought of James seeing my wife in that low cut dress of hers – but then that feeling had quickly flee from my insides because I know that there was no reason for me to be jealous of my best friend because he wasn’t going to be able to do a thing to her if he wanted to, and he wouldn’t even do a thing to her if he was chanced, coupled with the fact that I was sure a lot of other men had saw Sofia today when she had been out with Kayla, so there wasn’t really any use for me to be feelimg jealous in that moment.
