Sofia’s POV

I quickly glanced up from my thighs on hearing footsteps and my eyes landed on Ethan’s build before ke had completely made his way into the sitting room and finally a few feet away from the couch I was currently sitting on.

“I just got back from speaking with Mr Ricci, and he had given his permission for us to go to the mall together.”

My heart soared a little and I pushed myself unto my feet with my bag still against my tights and was currently being supported by my hand.

“That’s great then, let’s go then.” I said to him and quickly pulled the bag up to sling it over my shoulder, my phone still clutched firmly in my left hand.

“Oh, ma’am? I still haven’t started because I wanted to be sure Mr Ricci had given his permission. And when I found out that he hadn't, I didn’t bother going back out to start it and had instead gone in to request permission for him.”

“It’s alright then.” I said after a few seconds, taking an unconscious step backwards and pushing my hair out of my face when it had started to get in between my lips.

“If you’d wait for a few minutes, I’d go get it ready and would be back here to get you, ma’am.” He started to say once again and I nodded my head once, moving my weight from from foot to foot as I watched him turn around and finally disappear out the doorway leading into the sitting room.

I sat back on the couch once he had left and leaned back against the couch backrest, as my mind started to wander.

What if I end up not ever getting the hang of this painting thing?

I dragged in a deep breath and puffed the breath out after a few seconds, leaning forward to place my elbows on my tights and to stare straight ahead without actually seeing a thing, as I allowed my mind to begin to travel.

I mean, it wasn’t like I hadn’t been interested in painting throughout my whole life until this moment, it just hadn’t ever cross my mind when I was still in high school because I knew it was of no use– because I knew without even trying that it was going to be a complete waste of time since my father wasn’t going to ever give his permission for his only daughter to start getting her unnecessarily dirty doing something as stupid as painting.

I shook my head a little when hair started fall into my face once again. One of the things I do countless times in a day is the act of pushing and pulling and brushing my hair out of my face. It was inevitable, once you had hair, it was going to keep getting into your face every little minute.

It the hair was in curls, it wouldn’t be as bad as those with straight hair, like the hair I had on my head.

Ethan made his appearance at the doorway and I glanced sideways to land my eyes on his body before I started to lift myself out of the couch, figuring that he had already started up the car and was already coming back to get me like he had said before.

“The car had been started and checked, ma’am. We can leave now if you’re ready.” He said and I nodded my head at him before stopping a few feet away from him.

“I am ready, let’s go already.”

I watched as he shifted away from the way leading back out of the sitting room and gestured for me to lead the way, which I did after a fleeting second hesitation.

I made my way out of the sitting room and through the house, walking through the hallway before pausing before the door leading out of the house. I was about to raise my hand and place it on the door handle in order to pull the door open, but Ethan was at my side in a second and he was pulling the door open for me, gesturing for me to step out of the door first.

I faintly heard him pull the door shut firmly behind him as my eyes roamed around the whole surroundings that I could lay my eyes on, not seeing any car in sight and not dwelling on that fact because I knew Ethan was going to have it sorted out, if there was a problem with it.

“Good afternoon, ma’am.” I heard an unknown voice from my side which made me jolt a little as I turned around to stare up into the face of a stranger – whom
