She scoffed. “Wow. What am I? Some random client?” 

I didn’t respond this time around and just returned my attention to what I was doing. 

I really wasn’t getting any break from all of this, was I? 

After a while I started,” Sharon-” but she cut me off as soon as the words came flying out of my mouth. 

“Are you cheating on me?” 

I paused, my hand hovering in the air as I tried to reach for a file behind her splayed jacket.

Then she stopped her gaze on my face whilst shaking her head slowly. She alsk seemed exasperated to be honest. 

“I can’t believe we’re having this conversation.” 

“We are betrothed! You basically belong to me and I, to you. We are bound for life.” She slapped her hand gently on the desk. 

Rubbing my temples, I refused to give her a response to that. As long as I was concerned, I wasn’t bound to any damn person for life.
