The leaves rustled in the breeze, and a few pink petals, like the wings of little fairies, swirled through the air. They drifted past the pillars, landing gently on the two figures seated on the floor.
Perhaps because Darius was taller, the petal chose to land on his head.
The sight of serious Darius with a soft pink petal in his silver hair was unexpectedly endearing. It made Xion laugh as he fondly plucked it away, "I always thought blue suited you... but pink looks good too."
It really did. Or maybe it was just Xion who found those sharp eyes more adorable than intimidating.
"Whatever you say, my lord."
Now it was Xion’s turn to flush. He thought those words wouldn’t affect him as much after the confession, that he wouldn’t blush so easily at every term of endearment.
Yet here he was, sitting with a faint pink tint warming his cheeks.
Darius scratched Xion’s nose with a playful smile. "I think I like pink too." When it’s on you...
"Don’t tease me." The kitten glared at the Archduke but couldn’t hold back a laugh when Darius suddenly grabbed his waist.
Those restless fingers sank into the delicate curve of his waist and...
"Pfft — hahaha! Hey, don’t — hahaha — that tickles...!"
Tickling hadn’t been Darius’ intention. He only meant to hold Xion, but his fingers had other plans as they moved at their own will.
He was glad, though. Those soft giggles — oh, they sounded divine.
It suddenly reminded him of the verse from the holy books.
"When the Goddess whispers in the ears of worshipers, they will hear the most soothing voice, and nothing can compare to the peace it brings."
To Darius, Xion was that sacred existence. He brought a peace the Archduke had never known... not until the night Xion cradled him in his arms.
Even if it had been ’Rael’ and not him, Darius had already experienced it last night, had he not?
"Stop!" Xion said in a breathless voice, and when Darius finally halted, the poor kitten collapsed into his tormentor’s arms. "You... bad guy!"
That only made Darius’ lips twitch. Who even cursed like that? Then again, he doubted Xion knew any real curse words.
"I can’t move now." Xion tried to get up, but his legs failed him.
Apparently, his legs had chosen the worst time to abandon him to the tickle monster. They were completely numb. "I think you have to carry me..."
Now that was an inviting offer.
Darius desperately hid his eagerness, trying hard to bite back a grin. "With pleasure." His voice dripped adoration as he prepared to ask his baby to wrap his legs around him.
There was no bad intention, really. He was just planning to carry Xion... in a slightly different way. That was all.
Though the smirk on his lips said otherwise.
Just then, something hit the ground with a dull thud. Both turned just in time to see Noxian standing there, looking like a ruffled creature with some leaves and twigs stuck in his hair.
His hands were on Xion’s hips. The clueless healer with a slight smile was now straddling him, ready to be picked up like an obedient kitten.
"No, darling." Darius leaned in with an amused smile and kissed Xion’s forehead. "You weren’t loud at all. Just those sweet little gasps and sighs when I touched and... did that to you."
