Chapter 58: Xion Got Kidnapped

Xion was not supposed to be there.

Putting aside his trembling hands, he was not supposed to drink tea with someone who had just kidnapped him, nor was he supposed to sneak out of the clinic without informing anyone.

"I’ll be back soon, baby." That was what he had told Noxian after arranging everything at the clinic.

The herbs were all provided by Mister Berry, so he could only ask the old man to distribute or sell them back.

Of course, he had taken a few, three to be exact, and stored them in his system space. These healing herbs were the local specialties. They were rare and hard to come by.

And even if he did find them later, they would likely cost a fortune. He, a little broke healer, could not afford that luxury for now.

He had carefully prepared the dosages for the patients scheduled for the next days, all while attending to the growing crowd already waiting for him.

Before he knew it, the sun was already hiding away under the dim sky.

Exhausted, he stepped outside the clinic to get some fresh air.

All this time, he had been so engaged in his own things that he had not taken a proper look around.

As he was told, the streets truly expressed what it meant to be the most bustling market of healers.

Even the cobbler seated in a shaded corner was offering remedies to cure a fever, and funnily, they were not wrong.

Xion glanced around. His eyes gleamed with curiosity as he witnessed the exhibition of peculiar roots being traded at the staggering price of a single gold coin.

Xion had been charging his patients only in copper coins.

100 copper coins made one silver, while 50 silver coins accumulated to the highest denomination of one gold coin.

Unlike his world, this place felt astonishingly affordable. On average, a person could survive on ten to thirty bronze coins a month, depending on their demands.

Xion was not that keen on luxury. As long as he had shelter to hide from rain and hail, delicious food to eat, he was good to go.

Now that he was thinking about it, with the sudden rise in his clinic’s popularity, he sure had accumulated a little wealth.

He had twenty-five silver coins, two hundred seventy bronze coins, and a hundred gold coins!

Nikola’s father had insisted...no. He had downright refused to leave without paying for Xion’s kindness.

Xion was just being a good person, after all. What choice did he have but to reluctantly accept a tiny amount of a hundred gold coins from the chest overflowing with treasures?

He absolutely had not been ogling that chest like a covetous dragon. Yup, not greedy at all.

Thus, the so-called good person now found himself unable to suppress the greedy little grin tugging at the corners of his lips.

Xion could not help but ponder a possibility. Can I buy a small house near a mountain with this? Maybe I can include a little pool and garden in it as well...

A loud shout broke Xion’s rich-man fantasy.

"Buy one, get one free!"

He turned his attention toward the voice. A vendor was displaying a collection of various-sized glass bottles arranged neatly on a huge table.

Each transparent bottle contained vibrant hues scattered with tiny shells.

Xion leaned closer and noticed that there were not just shells. Rather, the tiny objects were arranged according to the demand of the buyer.

Perhaps the product was expensive; there were not that many people around the wheeled table.

Curious, he picked one from the corner. The glass felt cool in his palm, and as he tilted the bottle, the delicate grains of blue-colored sand within began to shift and float under the control of mana.

So beautiful.
