Chapter 90: Soren Is a Monster

Soren pushed himself up from the ground. He hissed as he clutched his stomach. The radiating pain confirmed what he already knew. His ribs were broken.

Xion was too ruthless. But where had he gotten so much power? How could he have become this strong in such a short time?

He wiped the blood from his lips with the back of his hand. His golden hair, which usually shone like the sun, was matted with mud.

Even his noble features had twisted into something more monstrous. His light blue eyes burned with barely contained fury.

"You think just because you have that devil’s support, you can jump around?" Soren snarled.

Xion barely had time to react before Soren’s mana surged dangerously.

An audible gasp escaped his lips as he willed his body to move aside, but his limbs refused to obey.

He lay there on the cold ground. His once-white suit was covered with grime and blood. freeweɓnovel.cøm

He honestly had no idea how he was going to explain this to Lady Nazia.

And then there was Eli. Soren did not show any mercy. Neither to him when the older male had punched the life out of him nor to Eli, who now lay unconscious on the side.

The eldest young master had grown irritated by the persistent shrill shouting. Without hesitation, he struck the side of her neck, silencing her instantly.

"Noisy," he muttered as if swatting away an insect.

That was all he had to say about a girl who had been willing to go so far as to marry that old man, Boris.

Xion’s gaze flickered to Soren. A pervert—that was what he had always thought Soren to be. But now, staring at him through the haze of pain, he realized something.

Soren wasn’t just a pervert. He was a monster.

And the monster was stepping closer.

Soren paid no mind to the disgust in Xion’s eyes. Or perhaps he cared a little too much. A vein pulsed at his temple as he brushed off the twigs clinging to his torn clothes. He inched toward Xion while his words dripped venom.

"Listen here, you whore," he spat. "Stop seducing the Archduke and come back obediently."

Xion’s fingers curled into the damp earth beneath him. His head was on the verge of exploding along with his aching limbs. The power he borrowed from the system was taking a toll on him.

His mana reserves were nearly depleted. He had used almost all of it when he was trying to prepare medicine for Rael which, much to his disappointment, failed.

Soren continued as the cruel edge of mockery seeped into his words. "After his audience with His Majesty, the Archduke won’t be able to protect you anymore," he drawled, his bruised lips curled into a sneer. "And when that happens... you will have no choice but to return to me."

Xion clenched his jaw. So, the royals were indeed planning something. Ray was not wrong about his worries. But return to Marquis?

As if.

"Stay away, you pervert!"

Xion forced his trembling arms to support his weight, but before he could properly rise, a sudden wave of mana slammed into him.

The impact sent him crashing back to the ground. But he was not the least bit hurt. At least not from the mana.

The sharp impact of his back slamming against a stone, however, was another story. A sharp sting shot up his spine, enough to make his eyes water.

Even in his drunken state, Xion had been rational enough to make preparations before meeting Eli.

Aside from a temporary power boost, he had bought a shield from the system, something that would protect him against any type of mana attack for an hour.

Soren sneered. "Is this his trick? Not even a scratch... It’s rather impressive."

Xion did not bother to correct the misunderstanding. If Soren thought that it was given by Theodore, so be it.

He liked this.

A twisted pleasure flickered through his gaze. His fingers twitched with the urge to touch. He almost got an erection just watching those petal-like lips part and tremble with each ragged inhale.

If they weren’t in enemy territory, if the risk weren’t so high, Soren would have done far more than just hurt him.

Soren waited, but Xion did not move. Ah. Poor baby couldn’t move.
