"Are you in so much pain? I could ask the doctor to increase your painkiller dosage." He said kindly.

"That would be great. " I briefly made eye contact to convey my gratitude.

"What about food? Are you hungry?" He urged

"I'm starving, I could really eat." Seeing I had emptied the little I had eaten. He smiled at my response, making me feel this weird excitement. I brushed it aside, before I overthought what was probably a combination of broken ribs and hunger.

DANIEL POV

I can't quite explain the kind of rage I felt, when a guard barged into my office and notified me of the accident, involving a new inmate, named Liam.

Matthew is the one who had reported the incident, according to the report I am holding. Why didn't any of the guards see or hear the commotion and step in? This is just a cover-up and if my guess is right, it was planned all along and some guards were in on it. That is why it was easy to keep other inmates off the corridor at such a busy time.

I dashed to the CCTV room and requested to see the footage of that particular hallway. As I had suspected, nothing came up. The guard on duty checked the cameras, only to realize a whole thirty minutes file had been deleted.

It could have been anyone, because most of the guards have password access. I should change it and just give to specific ones. It will make it easier to pin out culprits with only a few to consider.

Though the guard in question was one of my own, he had to sign a written warning. He was the one on duty and such shouldn't have happened under his watch.

I went back to my office, ready to head home but the desire to visit Liam overwhelmed me. I started for the infirmary.

When I got there, doctor Mark directed me to his room. I opened the door and found him laying on his side with his back facing me.

I could tell he was struggling in that position. I laid my hand on his back with the intention of repositioning him, but unfortunately I ended up startling him.

He turned his head too fast, which caused him to moan in pain. I apologized and slowly helped him to settle comfortably on the bed, after which I took time studying his slender frame.

Minus all the bruises, his pale skin was the smoothest and softest adult boy skin I have ever touched. It made me wonder the kind of home he comes from.
