Victoria instantly shrank back.

She dropped the smug look from her face and nervously looked at Nathan. “Nathan, I can’t walk anymore.”

Nathan scolded Isabella angrily, “Your Bella just went through an emergency yesterday, her body is still weak. How could you be so cruel to let her walk alone?”

Isabella glanced at Victoria. Nathan’s words were true—Victoria’s face was pale, her eyes swollen, and she looked utterly exhausted.

But what did that have to do with her?

Victoria had trampled on her dignity, and now Isabella wasn’t allowed to defend her own?

Isabella stood still and said coldly, “If you can’t bear to let her go, then I’ll leave instead.”

She turned to walk away.

Victoria had been waiting for Nathan and Isabella to divorce, terrified that she would lose her chance. She immediately slid off Nathan’s lap and grabbed Isabella’s hand tightly. “Bella, why fight with me? Don’t you want to divorce Nathan? If you miss this opportunity today, you’ll end up dragging things out again, and it’ll be painful for both of you.”

Isabella, too, was eager to be rid of this dirty marriage. She stopped, then disdainfully pushed Victoria’s hand away. “Now you’re being humble? Weren’t you just full of yourself a moment ago?”

Victoria was physically weak, and with a light push, Isabella sent her sprawling to the ground.

Nathan rushed over in anger, grabbing Isabella by the throat. He yelled, “How dare you hurt your Bella?”

Isabella struggled to breathe, her face turning purple, but she glared fiercely at Nathan. The defiance and hatred in her eyes were chilling.

“Nathan, you’d better strangle me to death. If you can’t, then just wait. I’ll slowly torture your beloved until she dies.”

Nathan froze under her venomous glare, a shiver running down his spine. He loosened his grip immediately.

Isabella spat out in disgust, “Coward.”

Nathan was terrified.

Was this really what she wanted? Did she want him to strangle her so that he too would face death for it?

“Crazy,” he cursed, “If you want to die, find a rope and hang yourself.”

Isabella touched her burning neck, her eyes filled with hatred as she spoke in a low, venomous tone, “If I die, I’ll drag you down with me.”

Nathan’s skin crawled. Was this her reason for wanting him to strangle her—to make sure he couldn’t escape either?

“Isabella, I think you’ve really gone mad,” Nathan said, feeling increasingly uneasy.

Isabella ignored him and turned her gaze to Victoria. “If you want me to divorce this dog of a man, then kneel down and give me three deep kowtows, apologizing for your bad behavior. Otherwise, I’ll never divorce.”

Victoria’s ultimate goal was to become Mrs. Hill. It had been her lifelong dream. She quickly got up, knelt in front of Isabella, and began kowtowing, “Bella, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have destroyed your marriage with Nathan. Please forgive me.”

Isabella’s mood lightened. She clapped her hands in satisfaction, then turned and entered the Public Affairs Directorate.

Nathan, watching Isabella’s hostile energy, felt like a heavy stone was lodged in his chest.

He still couldn’t believe that the pure, kind, and naive Isabella had been destroyed by him.

He lifted Victoria into the car and said, “Victoria, wait for me here.”

This time, Victoria had learned her lesson and didn’t dare to act up in front of Isabella. She obediently nodded, “Mm.”

Nathan then headed to the Public Affairs Directorate. For some reason, the place seemed unusually empty today. Isabella was sitting at the bar, chatting happily with the staff.

“Miss, you were so cool just now.”

“Remember, when dealing with scumbags and bitches, you have to be even harsher than them,” Isabella proudly shared her experiences.

Nathan cleared his throat with a dark face. Isabella and the staff glanced at him briefly, then simultaneously ignored him and continued their conversation.

“Big sis, you’re like the spiritual leader for all those bullied housewives online. I really admire you.”

Isabella replied, “If I could, I would hope that no girl ever ends up like me. Just stay carefree and naïve in the eyes of your family, like a sweet fool.”

“Big sis, you’re so wonderful.”

“Mr. Hill, there’s no such thing as a cure for regret. If you’ve treated your wife so badly, don’t expect her to forgive you. Don’t talk about being friends, if you can be enemies, thank your lucky stars.”

Isabella signed the papers decisively.

Nathan stared at her, his conscience suddenly pricking him. “Isabella, where will you live after the divorce?”

“Why don’t I give you our house as a gift? Or I could give you some money, and you can buy a new place?”

Isabella looked at him with disdain. “Nathan, too much retribution has already come your way, and now you want to be virtuous?”

Nathan’s handsome face darkened. “Ungrateful.”

He angrily signed the papers and handed them to the staff.

The staff tidied up the documents and took the marriage certificate back. Soon, a pair of green divorce certificates were ready.

Isabella took the green book, and after finally breaking free from the chains of this marriage, she couldn’t help but burst into tears of joy. She kissed the divorce certificate and said gratefully to the staff, “Thank you. I’m finally free.”

She stood up, not even looking at Nathan, and hurriedly ran out.

Nathan suddenly caught up to her. At the door of the Public Affairs Directorate, he grabbed Isabella’s arm.

“Isabella, I have something to say to you.”

Isabella looked at his hand on her arm, her brows furrowed in displeasure. “Take your dirty hands off me.”

Nathan withdrew his hand at once.

“Isabella, your revenge has made me suffer too. Let’s end all the grudges between us here.”

Isabella looked at him with the same expression she might give to a rare national treasure.

“Nathan, let me guess, next you’ll go and get your marriage certificate with Victoria, right? You two will become a pair of lovers, and everything will be happy. But at what cost?”

“You’re going to become a happy couple at the cost of me sacrificing a kidney?”
