Javier's gaze wavered. He sternly rebuffed, "What nonsense is that? What do I have to do with Winston Taylor's woman?"

"You were a shareholder of TS Network before we even met. Back then, Lyla's fame was on the rise, and rumors were flying that you were her sugar daddy. Reporters took photos of you and Lyla meeting in private.

"Are you sure there was nothing between the two of you?" Sophia couldn't help but mention the past at the thought of Lyla. She was green in envy.

She had chosen to date Javier not only because he was the heir of Beckett Group but also because rumors had it that he was Lyla's man.

That was why she felt compelled to take everything in Lyla's possession. And if she couldn't, she was willing to destroy it all.

Growing increasingly enraged, Javier asserted, "There's absolutely nothing between me and Lyla."

Sophia felt like the air was being sucked out of the room. As innocent as they might have been, Javier's words made her feel like she was Lyla's replacement, a second choice.

"So, you liked her, didn't you? And you still have feelings for her!" Sophia's voice trembled with anger as she tugged at Javier's arm, her eyes filling with tears.

She complained, "Javier, she's just a bitch! She slept with management and ruined her career by taking drugs. A man would only risk his reputation by getting associated with her. She's not worthy of anything other than being Winston Taylor's third wife."

Oddly, Javier was troubled by Sophia's remarks. He had met Sophia through Lyla over two decades ago, back when Lyla surpassed Sophia in terms of fame, beauty, and acting talent.

In his memory, Lyla wasn't as indecent as Sophia made her out to be. Even when Lyla failed the drug test and left the industry with her reputation in tatters, he remained steadfast in his belief that she had been framed. Not once did he look down upon her.
