Freya, seeing Micah busy in the kitchen, rushed over. "You’re the leader of the Yaren Tribe now. If others see you doing this, they might be upset or question your authority."

Micah did not give her a chance to finish. "Why should I be afraid of what others think if I’m making chicken broth for my nephew? By that logic, my time teaching must be considered a scandalous part of my past."

Micah had been patient with her before, not saying these harsh things because she had not confessed her feelings. But now that she had, making it clear she wanted to be with him, his rejection was absolute. This constant rejection made Freya start to doubt and question everything.

Micah was already on edge, worried about Orion, and Freya's persistent advances were wearing on his patience. The suggestion that he did not like women was the last straw. When she dared to question him like this, it was beyond reason to him.

Micah’s expression darkened immediately. His usually composed eyes turned sharp and stormy, speaking volumes without uttering a word.

"If you don’t like men, then why do you keep rejecting me, even though I’ve been pursuing you so openly? And if you never wanted to be close to me, why didn’t you tell me that earlier?"
