But now that she had been caught, Nash was not going to let her get away with it. Remi was brought before him and Nina, bound hand and foot. Her eyes seethed with rage as she glared at Nina, lying in bed with an IV in her arm, wishing she could tear her to pieces.

"We’ve come this far, and you still haven’t given up," Nina said with a calm smile. "I know your feelings for Nash are real. Otherwise, why would you be so eager to become my son’s stepmother?"

Remi had known Nash had a son, and it had not stopped her. She knew about the wedding, and still, she did not back down. If that wasn’t love, what was it?

Nina exchanged a glance with Nash, signaling her intentions. However, Nash did not trust Remi enough to leave Nina alone with her.

Nina chuckled softly. "She’s all tied up, and you’re right outside the door. Plus, you’ve got your men here. What could she possibly do to me?"

Every word Nina spoke addressed Nash's concerns without them having to exchange more than a look. The understanding between them was so deep, they did not even need to speak to know what the other was thinking. It was something Remi could only envy, jealousy burning alongside her hatred.

If Nina had not reunited with Nash, he would have stayed in Salterra, taken over as president, and eventually ended up with her.

She did not care about the child as she and Nash could have had their own. Besides, Dominic would have kept Orion close. However, Nina had ruined it all.

She could not understand what kind of hold Nina had over Nash, making him so completely devoted to her, so utterly captivated. And to make things worse, Nina had become everyone’s favorite, as if she were untouchable.

She was used to getting whatever she wanted, but when it came to Nash, she had failed time and time again. And now, she was being humiliated by Nina, the woman who had taken everything from her.

Nina’s tone remained calm. "There’s nothing to brag about. Your bitterness won’t change anything between Nash and me. The real question is, what do you think you’ll gain by being detained here in Birkham?"

If Remi were detained in Birkham, it would inevitably involve both nations. The relevant authorities might consider diplomatic repercussions and eventually deport her back to her country.
