“If you picked it, Aunt Nina, then I’ll like it all,” Hope said with determination. And she meant it. She cleaned her plate completely, not even leaving any sauce behind.

Once everyone was full, Nash drove them to the amusement park. At first, Hope seemed a little reserved, but after a few rides, she started to let loose and really enjoy herself.

“Orion, I really love the carousel! Can we ride it again?”

“Last time, I rode the big horse while you rode the little one. Let’s switch this time,” Orion said, taking her hand.

Since they were both still young, they spent most of their time in the children’s area, trying out all the rides they were tall enough for. Finally, they went on the Ferris wheel as a family.

When they reached the top, Hope clasped her hands together. “I heard that if you make a wish at the top of the Ferris wheel, it’ll come true. I wish to live with you all forever.”

After the amusement park, Nash drove them back home. They made a quick detour to pick up Gemma. After two days apart, she was all smiles, stretching out her little arms when she saw them.

“Look, Hope! This is my little sister, and she’s super cute,” Orion said, standing beside his mom with Gemma in her arms.

Back at home, she and Nash went back to work, leaving Gemma under Orion and Hope’s watchful eye, with the new nanny close by.

“Mrs. Watson, I’m really hungry and craving something sweet. Could you make some custard tarts for me?” Hope asked, tugging at Mrs. Watson’s arm as Orion stepped into the restroom.

Mrs. Watson happily agreed, but before leaving, she reminded her, “If Gemma wakes up and gets fussy, come get me right away. I know how to soothe her.”

“Don’t worry, Mrs. Watson. I’ll keep an eye on her,” Hope replied, nodding.

But as soon as Mrs. Watson left, Hope reached into her bag and took out a small bottle of clear liquid, dropping a few drops onto Gemma’s lips. She glanced at the bottle, as if tempted to add more, but then she heard the bathroom door open. Orion was coming back.
