After speaking, Winnie ran off.

Jamie didn’t chase her.

She understood that Winnie couldn’t accept this, and if their roles were reversed, neither could she.

Right now, she had to find Mrs. Lucas.

She flagged down a taxi and directed it to the Lucas family estate.

It was her second time coming here.

The first time had been by Mrs. Lucas’s invitation, a meeting designed to show her the opulence of the Lucas family estate and to offer her a million to leave Ben. Jamie had sworn then that she would never set foot there again.

At the gate, the security guard stopped her. “Who are you?”

“My name is Jamie Lewis,” she said calmly. “Tell Mrs. Lucas I’m here to see her. She’ll agree to meet me.”

Jamie hadn’t chased after Winnie because she wanted to give her some time to process everything. But she couldn’t leave Winnie alone for too long. Time was of the essence.

Seeing her composure, the security guard decided to pass along the message.

When Mrs. Lucas heard Jamie’s name, her expression darkened.

Rather than inviting Jamie inside, Mrs. Lucas came out to meet her at the gate.

The moment Jamie saw her, she understood everything.

Mrs. Lucas sneered. “What’s the matter? Run out of money?”

Jamie pressed her lips together, her expression calm and unwavering. “I’m here because you’ve hurt my family. I kept my promise to you. I left Ben and stayed away, just like I said I would.”

But now, it was Ben who had orchestrated everything to seek her out!

Mrs. Lucas narrowed her eyes. “Hurt your family? You should already know why Ben got involved with your sister. I didn’t have to lift a finger.”

Her tone was scornful, but her expression didn’t suggest she was lying.

If it wasn’t Mrs. Lucas, then could it have been Ben himself? Or Summer?

She didn’t dare linger. Moving carefully, she turned and walked out of the room. Once outside, she pulled out her phone and started recording before re-entering with a bottle of wine.
