“Alright, but take care on the road,” Nina replied.

Since Wilfred insisted, she didn’t press him to stay.

Nash then took Wilfred to Ben’s home. When they arrived, Ben wasn’t there, but Mrs. Lucas was, along with a three-year-old boy.

“Mrs. Lucas,” Nash greeted politely. “Is this the child Ben mentioned?”

Nash had never met Jamie’s son before, and this was his first time seeing him.

Looking at the boy’s features, Nash immediately saw traces of Ben in him. Combined with Mrs. Lucas’s presence and protectiveness, it was obvious this was Ben’s child.

“This must be your friend,” Mrs. Lucas said, glancing at Wilfred. “Please take a look at Charlie.” She quickly brought the boy forward.

With both Ben and Jamie unwell, Mrs. Lucas had taken it upon herself to care for the child, hoping to make amends.

Charlie, being an obedient and understanding boy, had quickly warmed to her. But now, with Winnie’s tragedy and Jamie falling into despair, Mrs. Lucas knew she had to take full responsibility for the child.

Wilfred immediately examined Charlie, making his diagnosis clear. “This child has a congenital heart defect and was born prematurely. His body is fragile and needs proper care. A heart surgery is necessary as soon as possible. He’d be best monitored in a hospital under professional care.”

Wilfred’s medical expertise was well-known. Trained initially under the Pharaoh’s program as a “test subject,” he later studied medicine deeply, partly for himself and partly for Nina.

Over time, he became a highly skilled pediatrician, driven by his desire to help children, particularly after witnessing Nina’s heartbreak over her son, Orion.

“Then please call her,” Charlie said, his eyes full of hope.

Mrs. Lucas nodded. “I’ll call her right now.”

She had Jamie’s number and quickly dialed.
