The director, a woman in her forties with significantly graying hair, looked somewhat old-fashioned. She wore plain clothes and patched shoes, indicative of a modest lifestyle.

Nina nodded. "Yes, I'm here to conduct an interview for you."

"Please, come in quickly!" The director opened the rusty gate.

Nina smiled faintly and took out some candies from her bag to share with them. "You all have such sweet mouths and are so well-behaved. Here's a reward for you!"

"Wow, candy!" The children's eyes lit up at the sight of the candies, and they clapped their hands in excitement. Having candies to eat was the highlight of their day.

After distributing the candies, the director commented, "Miss Walker, you're too kind to spend money like this."

Nina looked at the director and replied, "It's nothing, just some small gifts."

The director smiled and said, "It's evident that you are a kind-hearted person."

Nina simply responded, "I just want to help them."

Nina got a general understanding of the situation. The three-story building had to house fifty children, aged three to ten. The younger ones were packed into rooms with more kids, making it pretty crowded. Resources were scarce. They received some supplies from above and relied on donations from kind-hearted individuals.

However, even with these contributions, they lived on a tight budget. The children had not eaten meat in a month, and when they did, the portions were so small that meat was a luxury for them. It was no wonder they looked so thin.
