Nash's expression changed, and he added coldly, "Soon to be ex-wife!"

The doctor was momentarily taken aback by their responses but quickly continued, "The patient has a mild concussion and a fractured hand. She will recover with some rest. There's no need to worry too much."

Nina was relieved and immediately said, "Thank you, doctor."

"You're welcome."

They followed Zoe as she was taken to her room.

Nina noticed that Zoe's lips were dry, so she quickly got some warm water and used a cotton swab to moisten them.

Nash stayed by her side. No one else was in the room to avoid disturbing the patient’s rest.

Nina could not relax, so she sat across from Zoe, keeping vigil. As she watched over her, she grew tired and dozed off, slumping over in sleep.

She was jolted awake by a nightmare, finding herself in a dark, confined space. These dreams plagued her often, leaving her feeling unsettled.

When she awoke, she realized she was covered with a jacket. It was still warm and carried a familiar scent. She knew it belonged to Nash.

However, he was nowhere to be seen.

Holding the jacket, Nina hesitated for a long moment before putting it aside. She could not afford to lower her guard just because of one act of kindness from Nash.

It made no difference to her. What he did for her, he could do for anyone else. It was not special.

Zoe had not woken up yet, so Nina decided to buy some daily necessities before she did. She thought about how Zoe would need them once she was awake.

When she stepped out, Scott was still sitting there waiting. Sally and Miranda were no longer around.

"Scott," Nina called.

Scott turned, "You're out."

"You've been waiting a long time. Why didn't you go back?" Nina thought he did not need to wait around.

Though Zoe was often carefree, she had high standards for her quality of life. She knew Zoe would not be comfortable in the hospital, so Nina meticulously prepared everything.

Soon, she was laden with bags as she left the mall.

At the entrance, she suddenly collided with a tall figure. Her things fell to the ground.

Not knowing who was at fault, Nina politely said, "Sorry."

She bent down to pick up her things.

The person she collided with glanced at her, then crouched down as well, saying softly, "I bumped into you. Let me help you pick these up."

He reached out to gather the items. However, they both reached for the same item at the same time.

The man's hand covered Nina's. His hand was icy, sending a chill through her. Nina instinctively pulled her hand back.

She noticed the man’s hands which were pale, with long, slender fingers. He had neatly trimmed nails, and a string of green beads around his wrist.
