"Hello?"

Nash was sitting, and hearing Nina’s voice made his eyes flicker with emotion.

In a raspy voice, he said, "I miss you."

For a moment, Nina tightly gripped her phone but could not find any words to respond.

Having just nearly been kidnapped today, Nina was still shaken. With Wilfred living next door, she was not sure how safe she was. Talking to Nash helped distract her.

She could not help but talk a bit more. "Where are you?"

Nash looked outside at the people doing exercises, the loud commands making him shut the window tightly. "Out of town."

"You're out of town?" Nina remembered that when they parted ways, Nash had something urgent to attend to, but she had not known he would be leaving town.

"Yes, I had some things to take care of."

He did not elaborate, not wanting Nina to worry.

Nash asked, "How have you been? Eating regularly?"

He was still very concerned about Nina.

Nina thought for a moment, her worries evident. "I’m fine."

Nash wanted her to talk more. Just hearing her voice was enough to satisfy him. He checked the time and asked, "Are you about to sleep?"

"Yes," Nina replied.

Realizing he should not keep her up, Nash said, "Then get some rest. I won’t disturb you."

"When are you coming back?" Nina asked.

Nash’s lips curved into a smile. "In a day or two."

Nina continued, "Don't forget about the interview. We’ll do it when you get back."

She was only talking about work.

Nash had thought she missed him and wanted him to come back quickly.

She was still so heartless.

Even so, Nash could not get angry with her. He said softly, "I know, I won’t let you miss your deadline."

Nina kept clutching her phone.

She had been doing much better before.

At most, she could not stand confined spaces.

Today, possibly due to the fright, she did not want to stay in a dark room.

She lay in bed, tossing and turning for a long time. Just as she was about to fall asleep from exhaustion, she suddenly heard the doorbell.

The sound startled Nina.

The doorbell rang twice, making her heart race.

She opened her bedroom door and looked towards the entrance. If someone meant harm, they would have knocked the door down.

At that moment, her phone rang as well.

Nina hurried to grab her phone and saw it was Yvonne calling.

"What are you doing? Why aren’t you answering the door?"

Realizing it was Yvonne, Nina’s heart finally relaxed. She quickly went to open the door.
