When Nina came out of the restroom, she saw the shop owner standing nervously by the door. Sweat was dripping from his forehead as if he had seen something terrifying.
Seeing her, the owner greeted her like an important guest, "Oh, miss, you're finally out! My goodness, I can't buy this ring. Please, take it back!"
He hurriedly handed the ring back to Nina.
"Why won't you buy it?" Nina asked, confused. "We agreed on ten thousand."
"I can't, I can't!" the owner insisted, almost shoving her out the door. "I can't afford this ring. Please, go sell it somewhere else!"
With that, Nina was practically pushed out of the store. She turned back to see the owner shut the door tightly, clearly closing up shop.
Seeing him like this, Nina found it very strange. She had just used the restroom, and now the owner was acting like this?
Nina took out her phone and saw the ten thousand the owner had transferred to her. "I haven't refunded the money yet..."
There was no response from inside the store. It was as if the ten thousand dollars did not matter anymore.
How strange!
Nina was not one to take advantage of others, so she refunded the money to the owner. Then, she decided to try selling the ring elsewhere.
However, every store she visited reacted the same way upon seeing the ring, refusing to buy it like it was cursed.
Given the previous owner's excitement, there should not have been any issue selling the ring. Something was definitely wrong.
Deciding to keep the ring for now, Nina headed to a large supermarket. It was rush hour, and the place was packed. She picked up some yogurt, fruits, vegetables, and snacks, filling her bag to the brim.
"Who sent you?" she asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
The young man stiffened, "What? I don't understand."
Nina continued, "All day, people have been following me, clearing my path, helping with my things, even stopping me from selling my ring. Who sent you?"
From the start, Nina had sensed something was off. There were too many coincidences.
The young man forced a smile and explained, "I was just passing by and saw you struggling. I really just wanted to help."
"I don't believe your good intentions for a second. Who sent you?" Nina demanded, her voice firm.
The young man started to stammer, clearly flustered by her directness.
