Feeling somewhat better, Nina woke up and saw them grappling with each other. "What are you two doing?" she asked.

With his back to Nina, Wilfred blocked Scott from view, preventing her from seeing the fight.

She had no idea they were actually in a confrontation.

"Scott?" Nina called out, having glimpsed his figure.

Hearing her, Wilfred released Scott and quickly hid the scalpel.

Scott, understanding the situation, smiled as if nothing had happened. "Nina, you're awake."

Nina sat up. "Why are you here?"

Scott, holding the gifts he brought for her, replied, "I came back from a business trip and didn't find you at home. I guessed you might still be at work, so I came by. Here, these are for you."

He handed her a champagne rose and a box of chocolates.

"Thank you," Nina accepted them and then looked at Wilfred. "You’re here too? What were you two doing? It looked like you were about to fight."

Scott quickly answered, "It's our first meeting. We were just being cautious and talked a bit."

Nina glanced at Wilfred, worried he might be uncomfortable since he rarely interacted with others. "Well, let me introduce you. This is my old friend, Scott. And this is Wilfred, my new friend."

Scott extended his hand to Wilfred, maintaining a friendly demeanor. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you," Wilfred replied with a nod. "Apologies for earlier."

But then after a few days, Nash’s scandals emerged, and everything seemed off.

Wilfred hesitated, unsure how much to reveal to Scott. "Even if you knew, what could you do? It won't change the situation."

Scott stopped walking. "It’s not just you who can help Nina. I can too."

Wilfred’s lips curved into a slight smile. "Even if it costs you your life?"

Scott paused, then frowned. "Yes."

Wilfred's brown eyes darkened. "She’s been poisoned. There’s no cure."

Scott’s heart sank. "No cure? How can there be no cure... No wonder she looks so unwell. I saw that you were letting blood earlier. Is that how you’re alleviating the poison in her body?"

"I can only temporarily relieve her pain. The poison itself can't be cured. Even if there's an antidote, it's not here," Wilfred said, furrowing his brows.
