Chapter 133 

Nyx was truly angry. She had only come back to retrieve a bracelet she had forgotten, bent instead, the found Sextation plucking his own scales. 

She suddenly understood why his wounds had been taking so long, to heal. 

Nyx strode quickly toward Seafarion, her gaze locked onto him. She tried to understand what on earth was yong, through his mind. 

Confronted by the enraged Nyx, Seafarion’s thoughts vanished. Instinctively, he tried to hide the scale behind his back, beat it did nothing to conceal what he had done–his guilty eyes darted nervously. 

Nyx took several deep breaths, forcing down her anger. 

Looking at Seafarion, she mellowed down. “Are you still under a lot of pressure lately? Are you feeling too andout is that why you’re doing this?” 

Anxiety manifests differently in different people–some lose their appetite and struggle with sleep, while others become irritable and aggressive, 

It wasn’t completely unthinkable for Seafarion, who struggled with low self–esteem, to harm himself when faced with emotional turmoil. 

Nyx’s sincere concern made Seafarion feel deeply ashamed. He thought that he shouldn’t have deceived her. 

“It’s not because of anxiety,” Seafarion said hoarsely. “I just wanted to keep you here a little longer. I didn’t want you to leave for Taboris so soon.” 

Even knowing he had done something wrong, that he would surely be scolded, and perhaps even pushed away, he still chose 

to confess the truth. 

Nyx was puzzled. “Why?” 

“Because I want to go to Taboris with you, but I can’t find the time right now.” 

Nyx was momentarily stunned. She never would have imagined that Seafarion would go to such extreme lengths for a reason so simple–it almost sounded absurd, 

“Why didn’t you just tell me?” Nyx asked. 

“Why didn’t you ask me?” Confronted with her questioning, Seafarion lowered his head deeply. 

After a long silence, he finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. It was unclear whether he was asking Nyx or doubting himself. “If I don’t pay a price, can I really make you stay?” 

All his life, Seafarion had been certain of one thing–everything came at a price. The more desirable something was, the higher the cost. 

He was a successful businessman, and in the past few decades of his life, there was hardly anything he couldn’t obtain. 

But when it came to Nyx, he had no idea what kind of price he needed to pay to earn her affection. 

“During the time I was injured, your gaze was finally on me,” said Seafarion. To him, this was a kind of positive 

reinforcement. 

If enduring the pain of tearing off his own scales could bring him the attention and care of the one he loved, then, there was nothing he couldn’t endure.

Nyx frowned, “I care about you because you are worth caring about.” 

Since they met, Seafarion had always been considerate of her, catering to her preferences and silently offering her convenience and care. Even by his own transactional logic, he had more than earned her sincerity in return. 

Nyx continued, “You don’t have to make things so hard for yourself. Just say it outright, and I’ll wait for you. I’ll go to Taboris with you.” 

Upon hearing this, Seafarion trembled violently and snapped his head up. 

Nyx looked serious. “I’m a little mad right now, so I don’t want to talk to you for the time being.” 

With that cold declaration of war, she turned and ran. 

If Seafarion had lied to her in any other way, she wouldn’t have been this angry. But he had deliberately hurt himself. Nyx thought he needed to reflect on that. 

“No, don’t go, please.” Panicked, Seafarion reached out to grab Nyx, but his hands grasped only air. 

In his desperation, he momentarily lost control of his body and fell from his wheelchair, hitting the ground hard. 

The once dignified richest Seafarion in the Empire was now a broken, disheveled mess, propping himself up weakly as he watched the small female’s figure disappear–like a stray dog left behind. 

Nyx wasn’t a person without temper–she was truly upset this time. 

When Coleman invited her to try on outfits, she was still in a foul mood. She tried to hide it, but, being mature and sophisticated, Coleman saw through her instantly. 

“Something on your mind today?” Coleman asked gently while styling her hair into a playful updo. “Maybe I can help. 

Nyx shook her head lightly. Despite being angry, she didn’t want to expose Seafarion’s affairs to others or listen to their judgments of him. 

Seeing her reluctance, Coleman didn’t press further. Instead, he pulled out a meticulously designed mermaid dress. 

The silver–white fabric was silky smooth to the touch, a comfort to hold. But the moment Nyx received it, her mind drifted back to Seafarion, and her frustration deepened. 

Coleman observed her reaction thoughtfully. 

So that foolish boy Seafarion must have done something to upset her. 

After some thought, Coleman decided to help. “Speaking of which, Seafarion hasn’t come by for a fitting in a while. 

“Ever since that attack on you, he’s been beside himself with worry. He was so anxious that he started shedding scales, thought he looked ugly, and refused to get new clothes made. 

“He’s been like this since childhood–always so insecure.” 

Nyx froze. She thought, ‘Seafarion shedding scales from stress wasn’t due to work pressure, but because he was worried about me?‘ 

She subconsciously touched the dress in her hands. 

Seeing her mood soften, Coleman tactfully changed the subject, coaxing her into trying the dress on. 

The fitted design accentuated her slender waist, and as she moved, the hem of the dress swayed like a flowing galaxy.
