Chapter 224 

Two sounds of eggshell cracking overlapped perfectly. 

Archie’s expression froze, and cold sweat broke out all over his body. 

He thought, ‘D–did I… just crack my dear sister’s precious eggs? But I haven’t even used any force! 

In an instant, a chilling sense of impending doom engulfed Archie. He trembled as he lifted his head, his mind already flooded with countless gruesome ways he might die. 

He thought, “These are Theon and Erik’s precious babies. Though they usually get along well with me, when it comes to their children, what father wouldn’t feel grief and rage?‘ 

In the living room, everyone’s eyes locked onto Archie. 

Theon and Erik, overcome with emotion, stood up and reached out to take Sky and Ash from his hands. 

“Sorry, but I didn’t mean to.” Archie squeezed his eyes shut in terror, wailing for mercy. “Just go easy on me, I’m begging you!” 

As soon as the eggs left his hands, Archie immediately curled up, wrapping his arms around his head to brace himself for the males‘ wrath. 

After a while, however, a soft, chubby little hand patted his head. 

Archie shuddered reflexively, squeezing his eyes even tighter. 

The pain he had expected never came. Instead, he heard Chubby’s babyish voice above him, full of curiosity. “Archie, what are you doing?” 

Chubby’s round, wide eyes were filled with confusion. 

Everyone else had already gathered around to witness the hatching, yet Archie was still squatting here, holding his head. Chubby wouldn’t allow anyone to dislike his little brothers, so he enthusiastically started promoting them. 

Chubby said, “My little brothers are about to hatch. A baby lion and a little gray wolf. They’re super fluffy and adorable. Archie, don’t you want to see?” 

Archie thought, ‘Hatching? Oh… right. Eggs could hatch. Babies could break out of their shells.‘ 

As he regained his rationale, a wave of deep embarrassment surged through him, turning his face beet red. He was on the verge of tears. But at least he wasn’t going to get beaten, which was a relief for him. 

Besides, a fluffy lion and a fluffy little gray wolf did sound worth looking forward to. 

Forcing himself to regain composure, Archie pretended nothing had happened and followed Chubby to witness the hatching. 

Two incubation chambers were placed side by side on the table, surrounded by a crowd. 

Jaws picked up Chubby and let him sit on his shoulders to ensure he had a clear view of his brothers breaking out of their shells.

The day before their departure, the Earthlings felt incredibly lucky to witness Nyx’s babies hatching with their own eyes. 

Sky and Ash were very cooperative, not even disrupting their planned gathering. In just a few short minutes, they peeked their heads out from their cracked eggshells. 

“Little brothers.” Chubby clapped his hands in excitement. “Yay!” He had guessed right–there really was a baby lion and a little gray wolf. 

Sky was a lion, and Ash was a little gray wolf. The two tiny creatures were still covered in a wet, nutrient–rich fluid. 

They didn’t look very fluffy–in fact, they looked a little ugly. But Chubby didn’t mind. He remembered that he had looked the same when he hatched. 

Eager to help, he volunteered to bathe his two little brothers. 

Theon and Erik, not wanting to discourage his enthusiasm, knelt beside him to assist. Together, they carefully cleaned the newborns before handing them over to Zayne for a full check–up. 

After the entire process, the lion and the little gray wolf had become fluffy and soft, sitting obediently like two plush dolls. 

The medical check–up results showed that everything was normal. Nyx breathed a sigh of relief and kissed their chubby little faces. 

Even if they weren’t as quick–witted and precocious as Chubby, they were still her beloved babies. As long as they were healthy, that was all that mattered. 

Clearly and distinctly, Ash and Sky called in unison, “Mom.” 

Hearing the voices, Nyx was startled. It wasn’t Chubby’s voice. It sounded even softer than Chubby’s. 

She lowered her head and met two pairs of bright, glistening eyes. 

“Mom, hug.” Sky buried his little head into Nyx’s embrace. 

Not to be outdone, Ash wagged his tail furiously. “Mom, kiss me.” 

Although they weren’t very active, Ash and Sky were complete clingers. During their time in the eggs, the limited movement they had was mostly just to snuggle up to Nyx. 

Nyx, tangled up with the two little ones, looked dazed, with a smile unconsciously forming at the corner of her lips. 

The fur of the newly born cubs was at its softest, making them utterly irresistible. 

She didn’t even need to reach out to pet them–they would actively snuggle up to her and even call her “Mommy.” 

Nyx held the two cubs in her arms, giving one a kiss on the left, another on the right, and then crouched down to give Chubby a kiss too. 

She felt herself the happiest female in the world. 

With the cubs successfully hatched, the entire manor was filled with joy. 

Chubby finally got the little brothers he had been longing for. He stopped playing with dough and making cocarrois, completely obsessed with touching the fluffy fur. 

Sky and Ash, with their calm personalities, enjoyed the loving strokes from Chubby. They sprawled out on Chubby’s lap, purring softly and trustingly exposing their bellies.
