Chapter 226 

Nyx had no idea when these guys had all come to an agreement. She couldn’t guess it right. 

Zayne said, “Ten minutes. If you don’t guess correctly or give up, there’ll be a little punishment.” 

With that announcement, Nyx tensed up, her toes curling in nervous anticipation. 

She tried her hardest to focus, desperately wanting to know whose turn it was. But she just couldn’t figure it out. 

Zayne announced, “Time’s up.” 

Then came a fierce punishment. Luckily, the cubs had already been coaxed away to eat and weren’t lingering outside the bedroom. Otherwise, they’d be worried about Nyx all over again. 

The second round of the game began. 

Nyx really didn’t want failure again, but she had no sense of time. Panicked, she blurted out a name after just three minutes, “Jaws!” 

Jaws chuckled and shook his head. “Nyx, you want it to be me that badly? That makes me really happy, but… unfortunately, you guessed wrong.” 

“It’s me, Nyx.” Kian’s voice held a hint of barely concealed displeasure. 

The consequence of a wrong answer needed no explanation. 

Without giving Nyx any time to recover, the game continued. 

She was like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. She had lost count of how many rounds she had played–maybe the eighth or ninth–before she finally got one guess right by sheer luck. 

Nyx let out a long sigh of relief. But she relaxed too soon. Just because the game had ended didn’t mean everything was 

over.

When Nyx woke up, two fluffy little cubs were snuggled up on either side of her, while Chubby was angrily facing off against Jaws. 

The moment he saw her open her eyes, Chubby immediately abandoned his father and rushed to her side with concern. “Mommy, did Daddies bully you?” 

The tiny cub’s face was full of righteous indignation, his chubby fists clenched tightly. 

Nyx’s mind went blank for a moment before an overwhelming sense of embarrassment washed over her. She propped herself up, pulled Chubby into her arms, and said, “Of course not. How could he?” 

But her explanation was too weak–Chubby didn’t believe her. He wasn’t that easy to fool. 

“If Daddies didn’t bully you, then why did you wake up so late?” asked Chubby. 

And she obviously had no strength–her arms were soft even as she held him. 

Three pairs of round, curious eyes stared at Nyx, unblinking, leaving her momentarily speechless. 

She racked her brain for an excuse and coaxed them, “Because Mommy and Daddies played a game last night, and we got really tired.”

“What kind of game?” Chubby pressed on. 

Nyx went speechless, thinking that sometimes, having smart cubs could be exhausting. 

“A game little cubs can’t play.” She vaguely dodged the question. “You’ll understand when you’re older.”

The cubs exchanged glances. They thought, ‘Mommy’s and Daddies‘ explanations are more or less the same, so it must be 

true‘ 

Chubby finally relaxed a little and gave her a serious, grown–up reminder. “Mommy, next time, don’t play until you’re too tired. You need to rest.” 

Nyx nodded absentmindedly, her face burning with embarrassment. 

As if that weren’t enough, Sky and Ash asked, “Mommy, did you cry last night because you lost the game?” 

Their innocent eyes were filled with pure curiosity. 

Before Nyx could completely explode, the males hurriedly carried the three loose–lipped cubs away.

One moment of indulgence had nearly sentenced the males to a long, sex–less lifestyle. 

Fortunately, Nyx didn’t hold it against them. Instead, she actually found a game to distract the cubs and divert their curiosity. 

It just so happened that the game was a product from a company under the Sea Race Group, a wildly popular holographic survival game across the entire empire. 

Nyx hadn’t been particularly interested in the game at first, but since it had recently launched a competition and was all over StarNet, it caught her attention. 

The game’s wilderness scenes were incredibly realistic, and all players used their beast forms, as if they were returning to the embrace of nature. It seemed kind of fun. 

Since the competition was a four–player team format, she decided to sign up with the cubs. 

Upon hearing this, Seafarion immediately tried to stop her. “Nyx, this is a competitive tournament. Players have to fight over resources, battle each other, and eliminate opponents. It’s not suitable for you and the cubs.” 

Holographic games had highly realistic sensations–even though players wouldn’t actually get injured or die, the pain was still very real. 

Nyx hesitated. She didn’t really mind for herself, but the cubs were still young, and it did seem a bit inappropriate. 

Just as she was about to give up, Chubby suddenly pounced on her leg and clung to it. “Mommy, I want to play.” 

Sky and Ash also started circling around her excitedly, their eagerness written all over their faces. 

“Alright, we’ll play.” Nyx relented, unable to resist their pleading. After all, she was the one who brought it up in the first place. Now that she had piqued their interest, it wouldn’t be right to go back on her word. 

“We’ll just treat it like an adventure–no fighting,” she warned the cubs. “If anyone attacks us, we surrender immediately.” 

The three cubs sat upright before her and obediently nodded. 

The moment they were out of Nyx’s sight, however, their expressions changed, eyes gleaming with excitement. They thought, ‘Surrender? No way. If Mommy lost the game, she would cry!‘
