Chapter 279 

Nyx’s eyes lit up. She could tell it was Thron’s voice. 

Then, another even deeper lion’s roar echoed, making Nyx even more excited. 

Felix was here too. 

With the two lion roars, the hyenas arrogant demeanor vanished without a trace as they fled in terror. 

“Run!” 

“It’s those two!” 

“So scary.” 

No longer concerned with dealing with the young female cub, they scattered and ran in all directions. 

The mates arrived just in time, and Nyx was lucky to escape with her life. 

Having survived, she wasn’t left with any psychological scars; instead, her heart was filled with excitement as she quickly crawled out of the bushes and ran toward the two male lions. “Theon, Felix.” 

Theon and Felix had originally been planning to chase the annoying hyenas and vent their increasingly irritable moods due to the hot weather. Suddenly, they saw a lion cub happily running toward them,

After such a frightening day, she would’ve been terrified had she not found a big leg‘ to cling to. Even if the hyenas didn’t eat her, she would starve to death. 

The golden–maned lion stiffened as it felt the warm little body pressed against its face. He thought, ‘Why, why is she so

“Do you know us?” Black Mane asked calmly. 

Upon hearing that, Nyx froze. She lifted her small head, carefully looking at the two male lions again, very sure she hadn’t mistaken her mates. 

Although they looked younger now and seemed to be in the subadult stage with their manes not fully grown, with their strong, solid bones and handsome appearance, they were definitely Theon and Felix. 

Not all male lions looked this striking. 

“Theon, Felix” Black Mane repeated, mimicking Nyx 

It was a strange name, but for some reason, it made him feel a sense of familiarity. “Are you calling us?”

It seemed like Theon and Felix had lost their memories as humans and had become complete wild beasts. 

Unlike Male Beastmen, male lions didn’t have the habit of raising cubs and would never murture a non–biological cub. They were highly aggressive toward unrelated cubs, making them a significant threat to lion cubs on the savanna. 

Nyx nervously tucked her little tail. Could this turn into a tragic tale of spousal violence? It would be better to let the hyenas eat me, she thought 

If Theon and Felix killed her while in their amnesiac state, they would definitely have a mental breakdown once their memories returned.

After all their preparation, they never expected it would all be in vain. 

She had turned into a weak cub, and her mates had lost their memories, rendering all the prior preparation useless.

A cub this small didn’t look like one that could travel all the way to the Ancient Tree Pride. 

She thought she must have mistaken them for someone else. 

Nyx fell silent for a moment. “Are you brothers?” 

According to her knowledge, two subadult male lions traveling together were likely brothers. To her surprise, the Heavenly Law had altered their identities. 

“Yes,” the golden–maned lion interjected. “Can’t you tell?” 

“So, you don’t really know us, right?” he said with a smile in his tone. “Don’t be afraid, even if you don’t pretend to be familiar with us, we don’t plan to bite you.” 

The young male golden lion was very lively and cheerful. Nyx had never seen Theon like this, and it felt fresh to her. 

She gazed at him with soft eyes. “Of course, I know you guys. You are Theon and Felix, it’s just that you temporarily forgot.” 

Seeing her so certain, even Black Mane didn’t know what to say. After a long silence, he sighed helplessly. “Think whatever 

He thought this lioness was a bit clumsy. It probably wasn’t pretending to be familiar with them to avoid danger, but more likely she had mistaken the lions.

They shouldn’t be wasting time raising a strange cub. 

It was already very merciful not to just kill this troublesome little thing in one bite.
