Chapter 85 

The inducer hadn’t been seen in the Empire for many years. Originally developed as a recreational drug to help females get into the right state and provide mental soothing for males, the drug was widely abused, and countless females came forward claiming they had been injected against their will. 

The royal family issued a ban, and the drug was restricted. Laws were later amended to make it illegal. Now, the only place where one could acquire such a drug was the Underground Arena. 

“Those people really came from the Underground Arena” Lia exhaled deeply, giving up her resistance and started to confess. She truthfully explained how she had connected with the Underground Arena’s forces, her motives, and the purpose behind her actions. 

“But I had no idea about the inducer. You can investigate however you want.” Her words were sincere, and the experienced interrogators could tell. 

Since that was the case, it was clear that there were other masterminds behind these attackers, likely males, with the intention of injecting the inducer into an SSS–level female. 

This was a major matter, and the interrogators couldn’t afford to slack off. They took turns interrogating the attackers, but all they got was one response. “The boss wants to see Nyx. Otherwise, how could anyone have taken the job for the small reward from the Windsor family!” 

As for who “the boss‘ was, they refused to say, no matter how much pressure they were under. 

“Jaws? Adam? Griffin? Dark Fox?” The names of several major Space Pirates were thrown out in turn, with interrogators carefully watching the attackers, not letting go of any change in their expressions. 

They didn’t even react slightly to these names. They’d already been arrested and detained by the Empire–no matter how long the Space Pirates hands were, they couldn’t stretch far enough to do anything to them.

In the hospital, Zayne finished the surgery quickly and his usual calm returned to his expression. His eyes met Crown Prince for a moment, both of them coldly avoiding eye contact, and they both turned their gaze to Nyx at the same time. 

Nyx was having an uneasy sleep, even trembling occasionally despite being in Aurelius‘ arms. “Zayne,” she murmured softly. 

Zayne reached out and gently stroked her back a few times to calm her down. With such a big event happening, it wasn’t safe to stay in the hospital too long. Now that Zayne’s surgery was complete, they could take Nyx home. 

“Your hand’s not in a good condition. I’ll take you both, Aurelius said, not letting go of Nyx as he stood up and walked ahead. 

They attracted countless curious gazes along the way. The news of Nyx’s attack was contained within the hospital, and the people outside were unaware. 

Pedestrians saw the three of them and their eyes immediately lit up, gossiping about their relationship dynamics. Seeing how Aurelius took care of Nyx so tenderly and also treated Zayne with kindness, they couldn’t help but admire him. 

“His Highness really exudes the aura of the main consort.” 

“As expected from His Highness” 

The way he carries himself, other males can’t imitate that.”

The configuration of two males and one female was very common throughout the Empire. Most of the time, the two males were evenly matched. 

But the dominant aura that the Crown Prince radiated was too strong. He was holding Nyx in his arms, and anyone who saw it would think he was the main consort. 

The surrounding noise disturbed Nyx’s already light sleep, and she murmured in a daze, “Zayne.” 

Zayne glanced at Aurelius and said, “Let me carry Nyx It was just a shoulder injury, nothing that would stop him from carrying Nyx. 

Hearing Nyx calling out for Zayne in her sleep, the onlookers‘ opinions immediately changed. 

“Looks like Lord Nyx really prefers Zayne after all.” 

“Well, he’s not bad at all.” 

“During the livestream, Lord Nyx seemed to prefer him too.” 

“Could he be the first male Lord Nyx likes?” 

“Females usually have special feelings for the first male they like, it’s different.” 

The whispers reached Aurelius‘ ears. He lowered his gaze to hide the emotion in his eyes, but his expression remained calm and graceful, as if he didn’t mind the gossip. But he still didn’t let go, insisting on holding Nyx in his arms. 

Nyx woke up before they could reach home. The moment she woke up, she shivered, panic all over her face. 

Aurelius immediately tightened his hold on her and gently comforted her. “It’s alright, don’t be afraid. 

“We’re almost home.” Zayne pointed to the mansion ahead, telling her to relax. 

Felix and Theon had heard the news and rushed back home, anxiously waiting at the gate. After carefully examining Nyx from head to toe, the two of them finally relaxed a little. 

Confirming that Nyx was safe, Felix looked at Zayne with approval. Today, thanks to Zayne’s quick thinking, the danger was nipped in the bud. Otherwise, even if those people hadn’t gotten their hands on her, they would have still caused Nyx harm. 

“How’s your injury?” Theon asked with concern. 

Before Zayne could speak, Nyx was already looking at him with longing eyes. “I want to see your injury.” 

Zayne helplessly took her hand and reassured her, “Nyx, it’s not a serious injury, don’t worry.” 

This kind of injury wasn’t much for him. In his earlier years, when he was struggling on the Desolate Planet, he’d been on the brink of death several times and still managed to survive. Now, it was just a shoulder injury, not something Nyx should be overly worried about. 

Even though Zayne didn’t want Nyx to see the ugly and gruesome injury, he couldn’t refuse her insistence. He had to take 

off his shirt in front of her. 

His toned physique made his chest and abs stand out when he was shirtless, but Nyx was too focused on the injury to appreciate the view. She leaned in to look at Zayne’s shoulder.
