He had even tracked down the shop where Kian bought the blue iris necklace and uncovered the tension between him and Ashton Naturally, he knew that he was the Black Mamba whom Nyx had previously calmed. 

As Felix continued his investigation, he discovered that Kian’s father, who hadn’t been granted bail by the matron, had been detained in the Supervision Office. But Kian had forged documents and smuggled his father out. 

Taking his father with him was enough to prove his unwavering determination to betray the empire. The military had issued a warrant for Kian’s arrest, though it hadn’t yet been posted across the empire. 

Felix didn’t tell Nyx about this because it would upset her. But since Nyx asked again, Felix hesitated, about to speak when the Intelligent Brain suddenly rang with an urgent communication. 

“Hold on. Nyx, Felix said, his expression turning serious. 

The message came from Rex. This well–informed cabinet member had received some urgent intel. 

Rex: [Two people died early this morning, it was an assassination.] 

Rex: [One was a noble, the other a cabinet member. In the noble’s house, they found links to an inducer, suspected to be the mastermind behind the previous attack on Lord Nyx] 

Rex: [The Security Bureau is investigating secretly. I will continue to follow up.] 

Felix immediately cross–referenced the deceased’s details with the previous list of names, realizing that both of these individuals were on that list and had malicious intentions toward Nyx. 

And now, these two had been swiftly and cleanly taken out–this couldn’t be a coincidence.

The news didn’t stay contained for long, and soon it spread across the empire. In just one night, two major figures were dead, and the whole empire was buzzing with talk. 

Before the heat of this event could die down, things escalated again–One after another, several high–ranking officials were assassinated. The killer was quick and efficient, very skilled at escaping. The targets seemed to be very specific. 

The Security Bureau still couldn’t identify the killer, but by looking into the victims‘ identities, they found the killer’s choices to be very deliberate. These deceased nobles had all been involved in shady dealings for years, and some even had deep connections with the Underground Arena.

Theon read through the documents carefully, then hesitated. “Could he be doing all this to protect Nyx?” 

Felix nodded slightly. He thought the same. All the nobles who were killed, one by one, were on that list of people who had originally planned to harm Nyx

It seemed like Kian was protecting Nyx, in a sinful, crazy way. He didn’t gather sufficient evidence or follow legal procedures; he just identified who intended to harm Nyx and used the most primitive form of violence to solve the problem at its root. 

“Even though it seems like he’s protecting Nyx, we can’t just let him go.” Felix said coldly. A person this reckless was an unstable potential danger for Nyx. 

Theon nodded, understanding, I will protect Nyx closely and make sure he doesn’t get a chance to act” 

Just reminding Theon wasn’t enough. Felix hesitated and knocked on Nyx’s door. “Nyx, there’s something I need to tell you about Kian” 

Nyx ran over and opened the door. Has Felix already found Kian? Where is he?‘ she wondered. Nyx looked at Felix with bright, hopeful eyes. 

Felix couldn’t bear to see her upset, but he steeled himself and spoke, “He has betrayed the Empire and joined the Space Pirates.”
