Chapter 104

Dylan's POV

If there was a conversation I was dreading, it was the one I was going to have in a few minutes when Allie walks through the door…it was inevitable. For me, the relationship started as a way to mess with Ryder but I couldn't say the same anymore.

Although, a part of me knows that she was never mine in the first place, having seen the way that she looked at him and it was fine…he was one lucky son of a bitch. I could also see the efforts he was putting into talking to her which she ignores most of the time.

The door swung open and Allie entered wearing her signature smile that was bright enough to throw any man off their feet.

“Let me tell you,” She began, "if Kieran changes his mind on letting tag along to this Alphas’ event, I'm going to throw a tantrum.”

I let out a chuckle, easing the tension in my chest. "You're not supposed to be there in the first place.”

She rolled her eyes, "and you think I don't know that?" She asked, and I raised my hand in mock surrender. “But I have the perfect outfit to wear while parading the room. I'm going to find the perfect fit for your tux."

I paused, looking away. “About that, princess…

“Oh…you have to wear a tie too.” She interrupted excitedly. "I just realized I haven't seen you in one before. You are going to look so handsome.” She said, placing a kiss on my lips and I felt the words I wanted to tell her stuck in my throat.

“What were you going to say?"

“Uhm…we should probably sit down and talk."

She squinted her eyes and looked at me, “you're scaring me.”

Once we were seated, her eyes not leaving mine a sigh escaped my lips. I was just as anxious as she was…maybe even more. There was no easy way to do this.

“I'm leaving." I blurted, and I felt her freeze before letting out a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "What are you talking about?” She asked.

As calmly as I could, my gaze not leaving her, I explained how my position hinders me from just leaving my Pack and how my being here already broke a lot of rules, but it was sure worth it.

With me here, I've felt more alive, despite what happened. Back home, nobody gave a fuck about anyone. Take for instance, Kaia's dad didn't care that his daughter was missing. What was important was him making sure everyone in the Pack respected him because of his newly found position…even though it doesn't work that way.

My mom never for once asked about her, like she expected it to happen.

“Why can't you join the Pack? Kieran won't say no.”

I nodded, "I know that. But even with that, I'll still have to go back to the Pack.” I told her.

“I'm just going to…clear my head a little.” She said instead, standing up. A blank look rested on her face, not giving away what was going on in her head. I felt my chest tightened like an arrow was shot me. Right there, I just wanted to say fuck it and stay put.

“Allie, come on…” I started, moving to hold her but she moved away.

"I'm okay.” She assured me. "I just need some time alone." She told me and even though that was the last thing I wanted to do, I nodded. I'd talk to Kaia to help out.
