Chapter 117
Kieran's POV
By the time I was done giving the opening speech, Kaia was no longer sitting where I left her and I immediately panicked but she assured me she was okay and was only fixing her makeup.
A small smile appeared on my face when I remembered the look she had when I told her her lipstick was smudged. It wasn't bad…”couldn't kiss a girl when she's wearing lipstick, my foot.”
Just when I thought she couldn't be any more perfect, she surprises me, proving me wrong every single time. She heard heads turning to look at her and it wasn't because she was my mate but how stunning she looked even without doing anything. There was not a single ounce of jealousy except a proud look that she was mine.
“Alpha Kieran," I heard someone call, bowing his head to greet me, snapping my thoughts away from Kaia. “We're so lucky you decided to join us today. It's an honor." He said.
“I wish I could say the same, but there was a lot of things I'd rather be doing." I thought.
I nodded my head as he went on to talk about his Pack, their achievements and how they're handling the rogues. Once he was done, another Alpha walked up to me saying the same thing. They were all trying to suck up to me but I didn't care. I wasn't here to get along with any of them.
One of them was still talking when I saw Dylan also waiting. But he was a Beta which means he didn't stand a chance against the Alphas but I would very much listen to him rather than these men who were almost boring me to death.
I paused when a realization hit me, “if he was here, it means his Alpha was also here…Bella–”
"Beta Dylan,” I called, my voice loud, causing everyone around me to look back, shock evident on their faces.
“Alpha," he replied, making his way forward as they parted the way for him.
They didn't have to worry, whatever they say right now wouldn't change what I was going to discuss later on. The way most of them were ruling was shit but that could wait.
“I need to talk to you." Dylan said, his voice sounded serious, causing me to raise my eyebrows.
We excuse ourselves from the midst of the confused Alphas' who were wondering why I wanted to talk to a Beta from another Pack over them.
“I wasn't expecting to see you this soon,” I told him. "I forget you are a Beta sometimes.”
"I wasn't expecting to be here either…but here I am. Where's Luna Kaia?” He asked, looking around.
"Restroom…fixing her makeup."
“Are you sure that's…" He didn't finish when I felt a wave of panic hit me, but it was gone almost immediately like I had imagined it.
"Mate!” King growled, "find mate!” He said and I wasted no time in dashing out of the door, ignoring the announcement that I was needed to take over the meeting for the main reason we were here.
I heard Dylan’s footsteps behind me as I went, following her smell…it was faint, but it would do. “Bella, are you okay?" I asked, but there was no response. Instead I felt a wall rising.
“Where is she?" Dylan asked me.
I didn't answer…more like I couldn't as her smell disappeared the same way her emotions did. The first place I checked was the restroom, but there was no sign of her anywhere.
“She's not here." Dylan pointed.
I mind-linked Ryder, asking if she was with him. I wanted him to say she was, but there was an uneasiness I felt that told me she wasn't.
King also tried reaching out to Lylah but there was no response. By this time I felt like I was going crazy. “I should've gone after her immediately when I noticed she was gone."
“Now's not the time to reflect on what we didn't do," King said. “Let's find mate."
Dylan and I checked the surroundings, trying to see where she could but there was no luck. My mind was a mess, when she didn't respond.
The search continued for a few minutes before her voice finally came through. “Kieran, baby." She called, making me pause for a moment, relief flooding my veins.
"Fuck, Bella, why can't I smell you anywhere?” I asked her, not hiding the fact that I was worried. "Where are you?"
She went silent again and was scared she was gone again.
