Chapter 65

Kaia's POV

“Dylan?"

"Dylan!” I called, not wanting to believe that the person who looked almost unrecognizable was the same person I knew.

His head jerked upward and he tried standing up when he heard his name, and I was right. My hand covered my mouth as I took in his state. His clothes were torn and covered with blood. Some of which looked like they've been there for a long time. His face was swollen.

A faint smell of wolfsbane filled my nostrils, explaining why he wasn't completely healing even as a Beta.

“Why are you here? Who did this to you?" I asked, my voice trembling at how bad he looked.

"Kaia?” He let out in a horse tone. It was like talking became a struggle for him. Looking at him hurt, like air being sucked out of my lungs.

“It's me." I replied, beating my chest softly. “Why are you here?" I asked again, now standing in front of his cell.

A strained smile appeared on his face as he took in my appearance. “You're okay." He said, his legs giving way as he fell back on the ground.

Just how wounded was he? Or better still, what did he do to deserve the state he was in.

"Open the door.” I said to the warriors who were looking at me with uncertainty in their eyes. They didn't move, instead, they stared at one another.

"Luna…the A-Alpha…" One of them started, trembling.

Lylah didn't say anything. On a normal day, she would be listing out the consequences of what I was doing but now, she was quiet, watching the scene unfold.

“And I am your Luna…open this door.” I ordered, my voice firm, leaving no room for arguments. The dungeon was silent, the warriors rushed to the door and in no time, threw it open. And I immediately ran to his side, gathering him in my arms.

I know I probably should be happy that after everything he put me through, he was finally getting something worse in return. But he was the reason I was here and I think I owe him.

“Please be okay?" I mumbled underneath my breath. The warriors in charge of the cell all wore a scared look.

“I'm so glad you are okay.” He repeated and I nodded.

Kieran's voice rang in my head, he sounded worried, "Are you okay, Bella? Your emotions are all over the place.” He asked.

I couldn't bring myself to answer him so I blocked him just as he began to say something else.

"Bring the pack doctor here!” I ordered and they nodded.

They had barely taken a step when loud footsteps echoed everywhere in the dungeon, a look of horror appeared on all of their faces even before they saw him. The prisoners who were struggling to watch what was going on, all retreated into their cells.

The look in Kieran's eyes was deadly, his fist clenched. An intimidating glare was etched on his face. The warriors looked ready to enter the floor.

When his eyes finally landed on me, one moment I was holding Dylan, the next I was standing in front of him, the only sound being heard was Dylan's groaning. And for the first time, he looked so disappointed, making her heart clench.

“What were you thinking?" He growled, turning to the warriors. His eyes darkened and it was obvious that he was only a few seconds away from letting his Lycan out.

"W-we’re…s-sorry, A-Alpha." They stammered, falling to their knees and facing the ground.

I felt a pang of guilt, they were only doing what I asked them to do.
