Chapter 91
Aiden's POV
“Why the fuck hasn't she been found yet?” I growled, glaring at the warriors in front of me. "She's an omega, how is she smarter than you?”
They looked at each other, before turning to me, their body trembling as they fell to the floor when they couldn't provide an answer.
“We're sorry, Alpha. We'll find her this time." They promised, but over the past few weeks, that was the only thing I got. They were going to find her but they never do…they couldn't even get a whiff of her smell anywhere.
I was mostly going crazy since Kaia disappeared without any trace. My wolf, Jager was also mad at me for letting her go. But how was I supposed to know that she'd somehow escape from the dungeon.
“Then you shouldn't have fucking put her there in the first place." Came Jager’s response, still sounding annoyed.
She haven't reached out to her father or stepmom either, but they didn't seem worried. Even after questioning them about Melissa seeing her in the city, it didn't change anything.
“What about Dylan? No word from him yet?"
They shook their heads again and I let out another growl. It was like he also disappeared from everywhere, I couldn't reach him through our mindlink. The only thing I knew for sure, was that he was no longer in the pack.
I had no doubt he had something to do with Kaia's escape and even though he was punished for that, I never gave him permission to leave. I was his Alpha and I'll make sure to remind whenever he decided that he was coming back.
The Pack was also a mess, especially after losing our main stream of income without a valid explanation. No doubt someone was behind it. This caused a lot of the members to move to other Packs and yet, my Beta chose to go on a fucking vacation!
“Keep looking and fucking hope you find her, if not, you'll be sorry.”
I still couldn't believe that Kaia would leave me…I was her mate, she was lucky to be mated to an Alpha. It wasn't my fault she was weak but I still kept her close. Since she left, everything seemed to fall apart. At first, it was fine, the pack needed less weak members she seeing how she took care of the pack everyday without complaining, it wasn't easy getting someone to do the same as perfectly as she does.
It felt like she was some sort of glue that held the Pack…me together.
“Why did she have to be an omega?"
And as much as I hated to admit it, I missed her, her intoxicating smell, how she felt whenever I was inside her. Her eyes when she stares at me.
Without waiting for a response, I stormed off, Pack members scurried away, to avoid being a victim of my rage. I slammed the door to my office once I was in, the sound echoing off the wall.
It wasn't like I was going to get any work done as I sat in my chair, staring at the pile of paperwork I needed to get done. My Gamma was barely of any use to me. All he does was bring in more work that needed to be done and he was off again.
The door burst open, and Brianne came in, holding her…our son in her arms. She was fuming, her eyes shooting daggers at me but none of them fazed me, that had become a permanent look on her face.
Her eyes narrowed, lips curling into a sneer. “Why the hell am I hearing that you're still having the warriors look into that…good for nothing Omega?” She snarled, “You think you can use me and then discard me for that…that trash?” her face scrunched up in disgust.
Jager let out a growl, “you would not speak about my mate in such manners." He said and her stance faltered but she wasn't done.
“I am your mate now, and the Luna of this pack. And you will treat me as such." Her voice was slightly raised. My fist clenched as I felt my own anger building up from the tone of her words.
Pushing myself out of my seat, I stood in front of her, my eyes glowering. “You. Are. Not. My. Mate." I told her, my voice coming out harshly. A hurt look flashed through her eyes, but she deserved it for thinking that she could ever be my mate.
“Aiden…” She called, looking over at Scott, who was playing, without a care in the world. “I rejected my mate to be with you…”
