Chapter 93

Kieran's POV

As soon as I got back to the pack house where Caleb, Dylan and surprisingly Ryder were waiting for me, it was time to leave. I also mind-linked about five other warriors including Scott, who used to be Kaia's bodyguard. They were the only ones I could trust and they were also part of the people who came along when we went to the forest for the flower.

I turned to Kaia whose expression had changed to that of worry.

“We’ll be back before you know it.” I assured her and she nodded.

"Try to stay out of trouble…no jumping in front of poison or anything." She warned, her eyes landed on Caleb who just looked away. I smiled softly that she was still able to crack jokes, even though it was one we…he needed to take seriously.

The plan was simple: lay ambush on them. They knew we got something that'll work against them, so hopefully they would try to steal it, to prevent us from getting anything.

“We’re ready to head out, Alpha.” Caleb called, loading out everything we needed, Ryder helping him out.

I nodded, “go ahead, I need to speak to Ryder about something." I told him, and he left the room while Ryder avoided looking at me, no doubt he had an idea what this was about.

“This is a critical moment, any distraction can cost you your life…” I started.

"I'm aware, Alpha. But I'm okay.”

My eyes remained on him, scrutinizing his features waiting to see something that'd suggest that letting him come along was a bad idea. But compared to the last time I saw him, he looked more of himself. Although I didn't want to take any risks.

“You know you don't have to do this, right?"

He nodded, “I know."

Patting his shoulder gently, I left the room and followed closely after Caleb.

Once we were set, we went towards the Pack's border while I had two of them stay hidden close to the house just in case. One of the warriors remained inside the pack house, in the room which was supposed to be where the portion made was kept. The remaining six of us seperated, going to different locations within the Pack, mostly areas where people on patrol wouldn't pay attention to.

“Are we all in position?" I asked through the mindlink and a series of ‘yes, Alpha’ went off.

I nodded, reminding them to be careful and stay hidden. The shooters may not be as trained as they were, but they had something that was deadly.

I could feel the energy and determination through the link, they wanted this to be over as much as me. But after about two hours of waiting and no single movement was heard, that determination was quickly going down the drain.

Even I, couldn't stop thinking about the possibility that the mission had been compromised. But I knew that the moment I said it, whatever determination they had left would be gone in an instant.

So we waited, and I could feel my legs already going numb from staying in one position.

“I think I just heard something." King said, just before I could think about calling it off and restrategizing.

I paused, listening keenly for any movement, but nothing came. King was certain that he heard something, so I mind-linked the others to remain alert.
