Chapter 07
Lucas’s tone turned sharp. “Which male friend? Do I know him? What kind of relationship do you have to take pictures at the beach together?”
His possessiveness only made Daisy smile sweetly.
“Why are you asking so many questions? Are you jealous?” she teased.
Lucas frowned, glancing at me through the rearview mirror. “Don’t joke like that, Daisy,” he warned.
Daisy turned toward me with an innocent look. “Evelyn, Lucas and I grew up together. We’re just playful like this. You don’t mind, do you?”
I said nothing. Instead, I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.
Silence filled the car until Lucas, thinking I was asleep, whispered, “Daisy, I know you’re trying to make me jealous, and it worked. I don’t want you meeting other men!”
When I peeked through my lashes, I saw Daisy giggle like a mischievous child, sticking out her tongue. Lucas lightly pinched her cheek, as if scolding her.
We arrived at the beach shortly after.
The photographers ushered Lucas and me to prepare for the shoot, while Daisy wandered off to meet her supposed date.
During the makeup session, Lucas seemed distracted, constantly texting on his phone.
When he didn’t get a reply, his eyes darted around, searching for Daisy.
“Alpha, we can’t do your styling properly if you keep moving,” the makeup artist finally said, struggling to hide her frustration.
“Forget it “T

Then, almost defensively, he added, “She’s just a girl..I’m only worried about her safety.”
The makeup team fell silent, clearly unprepared for such drama.
Fine, go ahead,” I said calmly.
Lhad expected this.
I never truly believed we’d have a romantic beachside photoshoot.
I agreed to come because I wanted pictures for myself.. memories of the ocean, which had always been my refuge.
As a child, when my frail body and Omega blood made me an easy target for bullying, I would come
here.
The kids would call me names and hit me, saying I was a “half–breed.”
I never told my parents, afraid they’d worry. Instead, I shared my secrets with the sea.
This was also where Lucas and I first met.
As mates, we had been drawn to each other instantly.
He had promised to protect me forever, to never let me suffer again.
That night, Lucas swore his vows to the sea.
But I should have known.. the sea doesn’t just carry away sadness.
It carries away promises, too.
Lucas must have forgotten them long ago.
By the time I finished my makeup and put on my dress, Lucas still hadn’t returned.
“Miss Evelyn,” one of the photographers asked hesitantly, “when will Alpha Lucas be back?”
I smiled faintly. “Don’t wait for him. I’ll take the pictures alone.”
The team was visibly surprised but quickly adjusted to my request.
As the shoot began, Lucas finally reappeared.
“I’m back!” he announced cheerfully. “Let’s take pictures together now.”
‘I shook my head. “No need. I’m almost done.”

fis face fell. “You did it alone? I told you to wait for me.”
He sounded frustrated, but I lowered my lashes to hide my emotions.
“Lucas, it’s too late. No one can wait forever.”
Just like our love.. it had faded long ago.
