Chapter 09 

I saw the messages on their screen, and my heart ached so much that it felt numb. 

Lucas was actually preparing for Daisy to join our marriage, as if I would ever accept such a thing. 

He knew I loved him deeply, yet he took that love for granted, wasting it on secret rendezvous and 

flirtations with another woman. 

I closed my eyes again, feeling the icy chill creeping into my hands. 

But it didn’t matter anymore. I would be 

in soon. 

By the time we got home, it was already late. 

Before Lucas even stepped out of the car, he received a text. 

He turned away to listen to a voice message and then hurried back to me. “Evelyn, Daisy seems to be 

sick I need to check on her.” 

He hesitated, stumbling over his words. “You know… she’s the daughter of our pack’s business Fartner. Don’t worry, I won’t miss our engagement ceremony. I’ll just drive straight there afterward.” 

I glanced at the time on my phone. My parents should already be on their way here by plane. 

I smiled faintly. “Go ahead.” 

By the time you show up at the ceremony, I’ll be long gone. 

Lucas pulled me into a tight hug. “You’re amazing, my love.” 

Then he dashed off like a whirlwind, leaving me standing alone. 

I stayed behind, carefully packing every gift he had given me over the years and leaving them in the living room.

I cleared the house of every trace of me. 

The place was spotless, as if I had never existed. 

Five years. It felt like a dream I was finally waking up from. 

From now on, I would no longer belong here. 

Three hours left. 

I wrote Lucas a note and placed it at the bottom of the evidence pile. 

“Lucas, it’s over. 

I won’t be at the ceremony. Let Daisy wear that wedding dress instead. I hope you two will be happy. 

“I’m leaving for Silver Moon Pack to be with my biological parents. After this, we’ll never see each other again.” 

I signed my name and took one last look at the house where I had spent the past five years. 

Grabbing my suitcase, I walked out without looking back. 

On the way to the airport, I began deleting all traces of Lucas from my phone. 

Just then, his name popped up on my screen. 

I ignored it. 

“Evelyn! Where are you? Why won’t you answer my calls?!” 

Even after I hung up, Lucas reached me through our mind–link. His Alpha blood made it impossible 

to block his voice. 

But I could choose not to reply.

“I can feel where you are. I’m coming to get you right now.” 

I closed my eyes and shut him out completely. 

At the airport, the VIP staff guided me to a private hangar. 

A sleek, blue luxury jet shimmered under the sunlight, surrounded by dozens of warriors. 

Some carried my luggage. Others stood guard, ready to escort me. 

My father, Enzo Anderson, and my mother, Caroline Anderson, waited by the steps of the plane, their hands reaching out to me. 

“Evelyn, once you step onto this plane, your new life begins.” 

I nodded, my eyes stinging with unshed tears. 

“Okay.” 

But just as I was about to board, a familiar voice 

“Evelyn, don’t go!” 

My heart skipped a beat.

I turned to see Lucas standing at the base of the stairs. 

His handsome face was filled with desperation. 

“Baby, are you jealous? I was wrong before, but I know you’re only leaving out of spite. Don’t be stubborn. Come home with me.” 

He stepped forward as if to pull me away. 

The warriors immediately blocked him, standing like a wall between us. 

I remained expressionless, looking at him as if he were a stranger. 

“Love Daisy if you want. Love anyone you like. But once I made the decision to leave, we were done.”
