The night was eerily quiet, the kind of silence that made Sarah’s instincts sharpen. She stood beside her car, the cold wind brushing against her face, carrying a faint metallic scent. Her wolf stirred uneasily.

The mysterious man moved with an awkward yet purposeful gait, clutching his side. 

Blood seeped through his fingers, staining his dark clothes. 

Her wolf growled low in her mind, a warning, 

This man wasn’t just dangerous… he was lethal. 

“Need a ride,” the man said, his voice gravelly, with an undertone that made her skin prickle. “To the Gawadar Airport. Now.” 

Sarah studied him, her expression calm though her pulse quickened. 

“Alright,” she replied evenly, unlocking the car. 

As he climbed into the passenger seat, she noticed the faint glint of a gun in his hand. He didn’t bother concealing it. 

The drive began in tense silence, but the man broke it soon enough. 

His tone was cold and deliberate. 

“If you so much as think of taking a detour.. toward the police or anywhere else.. I’ll end you. Right here. Silver bullet.” 

Sarah gripped the steering wheel, her face betraying no emotion. 

Inside, her wolf Lena raged at the threat. 

The silver bullet was one of the most lethal ways to use it against a werewolf, but who the hell was he? Was he a rogue wolf? 

Or perhaps something else entirely.. a hunter, maybe even an orc from the nearby territories? 

Instead of answering, she focused on driving. 

The road stretched ahead, illuminated only by the faint glow of her headlights. 

The scent of blood in the confined space grew stronger, so thick it made her nose wrinkle. 

“You’re bleeding heavily,” she remarked, her tone neutral. “There’s some emergency medicine in the glove compartment if you 

need it.” 

The man turned his head to look at her, his sharp eyes narrowing. 

For a moment, she thought she caught a flicker of something… surprise, or maybe doubt. He didn’t respond, and she didn’t press him further. 

The rest of the ride passed in strained quiet. 

Sarah’s mind raced, analyzing every possibility.

Sarah slowed the car and parked on the shoulder of the deserted road. 

The man’s grip on his weapon remained firm as he opened the door. 

“You’re not going to use the medicine?” she asked, her voice calm but probing. 

He didn’t answer, stepping out into the shadows. 

For a moment, he hesitated, glancing back at her. 

His expression was inscrutable, and before she could decipher it, he turned and disappeared into the darkness. 

Sarah watched him go, her wolf pacing restlessly in her mind. 

Something about the man lingered… his scent, his presence. 

It wasn’t fear she felt, but a deep unease. 

Minutes later, from her vantage point, she saw him board a freighter docked at the harbor. 

The faint glow of its lights reflected off the water as it prepared to depart. 

Inside the ship, the man stumbled into a dimly lit cabin. 

Blood still seeped from his wounds, staining the makeshift bandages he’d hastily applied. 

He collapsed into a chair, gritting his teeth as he unwrapped the blood–soaked fabric.

“Cole,where are you? What happened?” Charles’s voice was urgent, the tension palpable even through the connection. 

The man grimaced, leaning back. “I made it to the freighter,” he replied, his voice strained. “The pickup point got compromised. Had to improvise.” 

Charles cursed softly on the other end. “You’re lucky to be alive. The team lost contact with the first driver… I thought we lost you too.” 

The man leaned back in the small cabin, wincing as he adjusted the makeshift bandage around his ribs.

The connection ended with a faint click. The man stared at the small communicator in his hand, then out to sea through the cabin window. 

The freighter hummed as it cut through the dark waves, but his mind was elsewhere. His thoughts lingered briefly on the woman who had driven him.

“What if he hadn’t let me go?” she murmured, a faint shiver running down her spine. 

She wondered how Alex and Arnold, would react if something terrible had happened to her today.
