Arnold listened in silence, his eyes fixed on the empty corridor. 

He did not ask another question. 

The silence between them was heavy, and he only nodded slightly before turning away. 

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Sarah was busy at home. 

She sat at her small kitchen table, carefully preparing the documents she needed for the day. Every sheet was arranged in next piles. She checked her list twice and made sure nothing was missing, 

Today was an important day at the company, and she wanted everything to be perfect. 

Sarah was determined and calm as she packed her bag with the necessary information. 

Just as she was about to leave, a knock sounded at the door. 

Standing there was her friendly neighbor. In his arms, he carried a little boy with curly hair and bright, curious eyes. 

The neighbor looked anxious as he spoke, “Sarah, I have a family emergency to attend to. Could you please drop Erian off at school today?” He looked around, as if expecting an answer quickly. 

Sarah glanced at the clock on the wall. 

There was still plenty of time before work, and the school was on her way. 

She smiled kindly. 

“Of course. I can do that.” She patted the little boy’s head gently, and Brian smiled shyly. The neighbor thanked her repeatedly before hurrying off to his own urgent business. 

About half an hour later, Sarah drove to the school with Brian sitting quietly in the front seat. 

The morning sun was bright, and the roads were calm. 

As she pulled up near the school entrance, she saw something that made her slow down. 

Just outside, standing together as if they were a happy family, were Arnold, Linda, and Alex. 

They talked and laughed, and their harmony was almost tangible. 

Brian squinted his eyes and pointed at them. 

“Alex? Who’s the woman next to him?” He asked in a small, confused voice. 

Sarah glanced at Brian, her heart tightening. She did not want him to know what he was seeing. 

With a soft smile, she said, “Keep it a secret, Brian. Just today, you must not tell anyone that I sent you to school.” Brian, though young, nodded solemnly. He understood the importance of a secret, and he promised to keep quiet. 

Only after the trio had left did Sarah gently take Brian out of the car.

They walked slowly toward the classroom door. 

As they neared, Brian gave her a reluctant hug. 

His small arms wrapped around her, and in that moment, Sarah felt a brief warmth that softened the hardness in her heart. 

After dropping Brian off, Sarah climbed back into her car. 

The engine started with a gentle purr, and almost immediately, she felt a familiar presence in her mind. 

Leo was mindlinking with her, asking in his warm, teasing tone, “When will you be arriving?” His message was filled with affection and anticipation. 

Sarah quickened her pace. 

She reached the door of the office building faster than she expected. 

There, waiting by the entrance, was Leo. 

They saw each other, and both of them broke into warm smiles. 

Leo opened his arms, and Sarah stepped into his embrace. 

“Welcome back, my partner,” Leo said softly, his eyes sparkling with joy and a hint of mischief. 

Their hug was gentle, a promise of mutual support and understanding.

Inside the office of the well–known studio, named Starline Studios, a crowd of coworkers had gathered by the windows. 

They whispered excitedly as they watched Sarah and Leo walk in together. 

One of them asked, “Who is that woman hugging our general manager? Is she his girlfriend?” 

Another voice replied, “Oh my god, did you see her face? It is so beautiful, like a moonlight goddess descending to Earth.” 

A third person added, “And it seems like she is the new employee who is going to be hired today.” 

Everyone was chattering in excitement except for one man who sat grimly at his workstation. 

A coworker nudged him and said, “Drew, aren’t you coming over to see her?” 

Drew shook his head slowly, his face set in displeasure. He had a serious look in his eyes. 

Linda, being Drew’s old schoolmate, had been introduced to the company through Drew when she wanted to join Starline
