Then, I retreated into a corner with Mrs. Arlen, chatting for a while. She asked me a lot of questions about Evan - more questions than the police had asked.

Gevena, a smart person, knew the tension between Hazel and me. She quickly stepped in to smooth things over, “Mrs. Dawson, you’re so lucky to have such an outstanding daughter-in-law like Aaliyah. Look how she’s taken the whole family to new heights!”

“Yes, our Aaliyah is quite outstanding! She’s the lucky one, having such distinguished friends. It’s all thanks to your support that we have what we have today!”

After saying that, she lavished praise on Mrs. Arlen, which gave me goosebumps.

Seeing that they were getting along, I quietly exited their circle, keeping an eye on the door, but Hannah had yet to return.
