Chapter 228 

Stephanie didn’t know what Dominick and the others were talking about in the study. It seemed like something urgent had happened. They had been occupied from 8 AM to noon, and they refused lunch. The study door was still tightly closed. 

Stephanie spent a drowsy afternoon in the bedroom next door. At about 6 PM, Sandra knocked on her door and asked her what she wanted to eat for dinner. Standing at the door, Stephanie sensitively heard the doorknob of the study turn. 

She walked towards the study, where Vincent and the others had indeed come out,

Stephanie almost bumped into Scout, who was preparing to come out. 

Seeing her anxious face, Scott smiled at her gently, “Keep an eye on Dominick and notify us immediately if anything happens.” 

Stephanie didn’t understand what he meant.

Stephanie thought, Stay with Dominick? He is a man. Does he need my company? 

Stephanie felt something was off, so she turned her head, only to see Scott stride away. 

Feeling heavy–hearted, she walked into the study and found Dominick reading thick documents. 

“Scott just said…” Stephanie paused. After struggling, she asked him directly, “Are you sick?” 

Dominick knew Stephande had come in. He replied without even raising his head. “I’m fine.” 

Stephanie felt that he was being perfunctory, which annoyed her. “You are not a child, go to see a doctor if you are sick, or I will be worried!” Perhaps Stephanie’s statement was moving Dominick pushed the documents on the table aside and stared at her for a long time.

Dominick was angry about Stephanie’s rebellious manner. Suddenly, his head started to ache even more. Stephanie’s face was tense. She didn’t want to talk with Dominick anymore. So, she turned around and left without even looking at him. 

“Don’t leave.” 

As soon as Stephanie turned around, she heard Dominick’s stammer. His voice was low and hoarse, which sounded very awkward. 

In fact, Stephanie felt sorry for Dominick working so hard. Maybe too many things had happened recently, and she softened for a moment 

“I see,” Stephanie responded sullenly. She took it as an agreement very reluctantly so as not to piss him off. 

She couldn’t help but complain in a low voice, “You’re so unreasonable.” 

When Dominick saw her approaching him, his stern face softened a little, but he reminded her again, “Remember what you promised.”

Dominick touched the stubble on his chin and frowned. He was indeed very uncomfortable. Too many things had been bothering him these days. 

Dominick was sitting on the bed, while Stephanie put her hands on his shoulders and stood in front of him. Perhaps the height difference gave her confidence. Dominick didn’t look very good. It was obvious that he was too tired from staying up late. With his stubble, he looked quite haggard. As Stephanie looked at him, she became angrier. 

She snorted, “Dominick, it’s only been a few days, but you’ve turned into a sloppy old man. 

“Do you dislike me?” 

Noticing her burning gaze, Dominick had a strange feeling. 

When Stephanie heard that, she glared at him angrily. “Who dares!” 

“Stephanie, who do you think would dare to do that?” 

Dominick stared at her. His words carried provocation, but Stephanie was amused. 

Stephanie blushed in guilt. She then saw Dominick smile. Though he was exhausted, he still teased her. 

Stephanie sat down on the bedside and reached our to touch Dominick’s forehead naturally. “Dominick, please confess and I will give you leniency. Do you have a fever? 

“Forget it I’ll go get the thermometer… Just sit there and don’t move, or lie down on the bed. Anyway, don’t move!” 

Without waiting for his response, Stephanie walked up to the bedside table, opened the second drawer from the bottom, and skillfully took out the medicine box to search for the thermometer. 

Dominick watched Stephanie bustle around. Due to the splitting headache, he closed his eyes and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. This was bearable. 

Suddenly, something confusing came to his mind. Stephanie was becoming more and more fierce. But she was timid when she first got married. Why did she become like this! 

With a frown, Dominick thought about this problem seriously but to no avail.
