Samuel was a bit flustered, his voice softer than usual. 

“Penny, are you scared? Hang on, I’ll take you to the hospital for a check up. You look a bit off, need me to pick up some meds for you?” 

“I’m okay.” 

Samuel’s care was hard to refuse, and Maja felt bad turning him down. 

Since they’d reached an understanding, Samuel wouldn’t go after her anymore and would keep her secret. 

lan’s vibes turned frosty, but he didn’t say a word. 

The elevator door opened, and Maja was the first one out. Ian followed closely, not stopping as he passed Samuel. 

Samuel sidestepped lan to catch up with Maja, “Look at you, you’re as pale as a ghost, how could you say you’re okay.” 

Maja managed a weak smile, puzzled by Samuel’s sudden concern. 

lan, standing aside with a frown, figured this could be the infamous suspension bridge effect at work. 

Tyler patted lan on the shoulder, “Man, that scared the hell out of me. The elevator’s been fine for years, and it decides to act up tonight. Let’s go, we’ll take the other lift down.” 

After saying that, he turned to Maja, “Ms. Penny, glad you’re okay.” 

“Thanks for your concern, I’m fine.” Maja nodded politely. 

They got into another elevator, and Samuel started talking to cheer Maja up. 

“I’ve cut ties with Silver. He might come looking for you.” 

But Maja had decided not to work with Silver anymore. If he found a new partner and told her why, she wouldn’t fuss over it. 

After all, she knew the rules of the business world: survival of the fittest. 

Only now did she realize Silver’s true colors. He not only wanted to seize the opportunity from EliteEdge Consortium but also avoided her and kept her in the dark about the truth. 

“Mm, I won’t work with Silver either. I’ll find another company to work with. 

The elevator stopped at the first floor, and Maja, in a rush to get to the hospital, didn’t chat with Samuel. 

She nodded politely to the others in the lift, then walked briskly out of the lobby, got into a car and disappeared. 

Samuel waved to lan and left as well. 

Only lan and Tyler remained. As for Fitch, he had been called away by a phone call from home when he heard about Mia’s death. 

Tyler couldn’t help but ask, “So you two were alone in that dimly lit elevator. Nothing happened, huh?” 

lan couldn’t help but snort, “You’ve got quite the imagination.” 

“Penny hides her feelings well. The more she likes someone, the more she hides it. She won’t confess to you until you show her that you like her.” 

lan paused, his eyebrows furrowed. 

Seeing his doubt, Tyler started to let his writer’s imagination run wild. 

“That’s why I think she’s very unique. She doesn’t want to get hurt, so she won’t reveal her weaknesses to you until she feels your attitude soften. She wouldn’t hesitate to hand over her wealth to you. If she didn’t like you, I’d call bullshit. Plus, you’ve been rather cold to her. In the situation just now, any other guy would’ve held her close and called her darling in a soft voice. Look at Samuel, he was freaking out.”
