“I’m heading out now; don’t worry, I won’t spill the beans about what happened tonight, not even to Carlene.” 

He shut the door and silence returned to the room. 

lan was standing by the window of the master bedroom, quietly taking in the view outside. 

He was looking at a vibrant cityscape, and the view from this window was nothing short of spectacular. 

But he only glanced at it, then turned his gaze to his fingertips. 

His fingertips were warm and fragrant, as if all the sensations were lingering there, seeping into his skin and consuming him. 

Tyler was right. 

He was still hurting. 

He didn’t even understand why. 

She was just a woman; why did he lose control and pull her back when he saw her eyes wide with fear like a deer in headlights? 

In that moment, he even had an impulse to kiss her and consume her. 

Was it because he had been suppressing himself for too long? 

He had never had such thoughts before; he didn’t even masturbate. 

Had he been repressing himself for too long? 

He furrowed his brow, and then his phone rang. It was Carlene. 

“lan, are you done with your meeting? I’ve got some fruit for you. I heard you have an overseas meeting and might be a busy night.” 

Carlene’s voice was soft. 

She had already instructed the nanny to prepare everything. Tyler had texted her earlier, saying lan might need a woman 

now. 

Carlene always acted reserved around lan; she felt that she was not like his other admirers. 

She was the only girlfriend lan had ever openly acknowledged, so she couldn’t rush things; she needed a perfect excuse. 

If Tyler said so, then lan must really need a woman right now. 

Carlene blushed and urged her nanny to hurry up while speaking softly to lan. 

“I’m on my way; don’t turn me down, okay? It’s been a while since we had a good chat.” 

lan had regained his composure by then; he had always been good at self–control. 

He had already left the room and turned on his laptop. The overseas meeting was in half an hour. 

“Come over.” 

His tone was indifferent, as he was already working on the files. 

Carlene’s eyes lit up and a small smile appeared on her face. After hanging up the phone, she rushed upstairs for a quick shower, sprayed on some perfume, changed into a pretty outfit, and put on some light makeup. 

She grabbed the stuff the nanny had prepared and headed for the hotel. 

But when she walked into the hotel lobby, she saw a woman who looked rather frail. 

The woman was talking to the front desk staff. 

“Who booked that room? Why is it booked for so long?” 

“I’m sorry, we can’t disclose our guest’s information.” 

Tricia Pennyfeather’s cheeks were flushed with anger. Since she had recovered a bit, she wanted to wait at the hotel, so she also wanted to book a room on the same floor as lan, but was told the room had been booked for days. 

Who could it be? 

Was lan’s woman also here? 

She furrowed her brow, and then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a woman standing not far away. 

Tricia’s gaze shifted, and her pupils narrowed. 

It was Carlene! 

Carlene was holding a box and walking gracefully towards them. She put one of the boxes, which contained fruit, on the counter and gave a small smile to the desk clerk. 

“After 8 p.m., don’t call lan to ask if he needs food; I’ll bring him something every day.” 

The front desk recognized Carlene because the hotel management had privately informed them of her identity. 

She was the future Mrs. Raymond of the Raymond Group, and this hotel belonged to the Raymond Group. 

“Okay, thank you for the fruit.” 

Carlene glanced at Tricia; she didn’t recognize this woman, so she just raised an eyebrow and instructed the clerk. 

“Did any other women come here to bother lan when I’m not around?” 

Tricia was standing right in front of her, feeling a bit nervous all of a sudden.
