Holden finally felt satisfied. 

During the past chess games, they’d go back and forth, usually taking at least half an hour to finish. 

But tonight, lan had wiped out grandpa’s chess pieces in a mere ten minutes. 

He raised his eyebrows in surprise. 

“You little rascal, have you been letting me win all this time?”

lan glanced at the wall clock, It was already 7:51. 

“lan, you’ve checked the clock five times since we started playing chess. Your mind isn’t here.”

“If you were as dedicated to Maja, you two would have had a kid by now. Go on, no matter how busy work is, don’t forget about your wife at home.” lan didn’t respond to this, and once he got into the car, he checked the time again. 

It was already eight o’clock. 

Instead of answering his partner’s call, he drove straight to the hotel. 

It was half past eight.
