Laura was flaunting her arrogance, especially after realizing Maja was no big cheese. Her fingers were practically brushing Maja’s face. 

Everyone around was just enjoying the show, some knowing that Laura was dating Kurt. So, they didn’t dare to intervene. 

Maja found that amusing and burst into laughter. What did it matter to Laura if she was wearing knockoffs? 

Seeing Maja’s laughter, Laura felt humiliated and grabbed a glass of red wine from a waiter’s tray, splashing it all over Maja’s chest. 

Maja couldn’t dodge in time, the wine trickling down her neck, the scene was super awkward. 

Laura raised an eyebrow smugly. 

“This fake trash deserves to be ruined!” 

Maja was livid, noticing lan standing not far away. He had just come up from the second floor and didn’t seem inclined to help her out. 

She took a deep breath, and without a warning, slapped Laura hard. 

Laura was taken aback. The wine glass in her hand fell to the floor and shattered. 

She touched her face in disbelief, thinking she must be dreaming. 

This country bumpkin dared to slap her! 

“You bitch! Do you know who I am?” 

“I honestly don’t care who you are, but my dress is genuine. You’re wearing a rip–off, this painting was my work from college. I never authorized any company to use it, yet this brand used it without my consent, that’s copyright infringement. I thought you, wearing this dress, would know the source of this painting.” 

Her voice was calm, and she slowly rubbed her hand. 

“Oh, and I was Master Herbert’s student. This painting of mine won the grand prize back in the day, the organizers must still have records of that. If you’re the spokesperson for this brand, your image is taking quite a hit.” 

Maja turned to look at Carlene, her eyes icy cold. 

“But you seem to be good friends with Ms. Shepard. Wasn’t she publicly criticized by Master Herbert recently? Mistaking fake art for real and real art for fake. No wonder you guys get along.” 

With that, she not only accused Laura but Carlene as well. 

Carlene had been enjoying the drama, but her face turned sour when her past was brought up. 

That incident was profoundly embarrassing. She knew that many people in the circle had heard about her scandal. 

Master Herbert was a big deal, anyone he criticized would be finished in the art world. 

Carlene gritted her teeth, trembling from anger, but she couldn’t argue Maja’s words. 

Upon hearing Herbert’s name, Laura looked confused, “Who’s Herbert anyway? Is he famous or something?” 

Laughter filled the air as those words trickled out of her mouth. 

In the high society, everyone knew who Herbert was. 

Laura was just a minor celebrity, hadn’t reached the A–list yet, and had no interest in art, so she had no idea who Herbert was. 

She had just mocked Maja for being a country bumpkin, yet she was now the laughingstock for her lack of knowledge. 

But Laura, oblivious to the mockery, was growing impatient with Maja. 

“I’m Kurt’s girlfriend. Regardless of your connection with Herbert, you need to apologize to me tonight!” 

Just as she said that Kurt and a few rich kids happened to walk by. 

They nudged Kurt teasingly, “Hey, Kurt, your girlfriend’s being bullied.” 

Kurt was very proud and had indeed been dating Laura recently. He approached and was surprised to see a familiar face.
