lan’s currently catching hell from Maureen Raymond, who thought he shouldn’t be divorcing Maja at such a crucial time. 

But Selena and Edith were backing him up. 

So, the hallways buzzed with heated debates about whether to divorce. 

Selena didn’t beat around the bush. 

“If you don’t divorce her today, I swear I’ll drop dead right here and not stop until they cart me off to the emergency room!” 

She can’t stand Maja. The mere thought of Maja being Lillian’s daughter made her want to throw up. 

After all these years in the Raymond family and giving Steve two sons. What did she get? 

She can’t take it! 

With all three ladies yapping in his ear, lan’s got a serious frown going on. 

Then he saw another text from Maja and felt a wave of annoyance. 

His grandpa’s been good to her, even wanted to give her fifty million, but now with grandpa in the emergency room, she’s still pushing for a divorce? Maybe she knew there were loads of perks post–divorce and can’t wait to reap them. 

He’s just at a loss with this kind of woman. 

He made a call. 

But it’s not to Maja. He didn’t want to hear her voice right now. 

Soon, a staff member contacted Maja, asking for her location. 

She said she’s at the city hall entrance. 

Ten minutes later, a man walked out of city hall. 

“Ms. Pennyfeather, I’m here on behalf of Mr. Raymond. We’re here to process your divorce papers.” 

It turned out, it’s the same guy who processed their marriage certificate. 

lan wasn’t there when they got their marriage certificate. 

And he’s not here for the divorce certificate either. 

The staff member’s eyes were full of sympathy. He didn’t understand why such a beautiful woman can’t keep her man. 

In the middle of processing her divorce, Maja’s work phone rang. It’s lan.

“Do I still have to give her money?” 

Maja looked to the other side of city hall, where people were getting marriage certificates. She was alone when she got her marriage certificate with lan. 

Now, a wave of sorrow hit her. She took a deep breath, trying to sound casual. 

“But I heard Ms. Pennyfeather’s father passed away not too long ago.” 

“What does that have to do with me?” 

His tone was indifferent. Seeing the ER light go off and the doctor pushing Holden out, he said to her. 

“I don’t need to pity her. There are plenty of others who need pity more than her. Got to go. I’ll call you later.” 

The call ended. 

Listening to the dial tone on the other end, Maja laughed softly, feeling relieved. 

Just then, the staff member finished processing the divorce papers and sighed. 

“Ms, Pennyfeather, find yourself a reliable man next time.” 

Maja smiled and sincerely said, “Thank you.” 

When she left city hall, she found the sunlight outside blinding. 

She glanced at the two divorce papers in her hand, feeling a bit dazed. 

From now on, lah will no longer be her husband but her ex. 

As she’s about to get in her car, she spotted Carlene’s car parked outside. 

Carlene’s dressed to the nicest today. Seeing Maja come out with two divorce papers, she’s clearly thrilled.
