Maja was a kickass boss and a trustworthy friend. 

Zoey handed her a sample containing two strands of hair. 

After taking the sample, Maja passed it on to Phelps at the hospital. 

She expressed her hope to get the results ASAP 

Phelps rubbed his forehead and said, “Sure thing, I’ll get my colleagues to start the testing right away.” 

Phelps had been performing surgeries in the hospital lately. Thanks to his mad skills, many patients chose this hospital and specifically demanded him as their surgeon. He barely had a minute to breathe. Still, he was aware of the latest gossip. 

He looked at Maja as if he wanted to say something, but then he zipped his lips. 

With Phelps‘ help, the results came out in two hours. 

Seeing the results, Zoey felt like she was struck by lightning. 

The results showed that they were father and son. 

Murray did have a son, and the kid had been around for seven years.

The doctor explained, “She’s just had a panic attack and low blood sugar and she’ll be fine after some rest.” 

Maja stood by the bed, her heart aching for Zoey.

“Zoey, what are you planning to do?” 

Sitting on the bed, Zoey managed a weak smile at the question. 

“Ms. Pennyfeather, thank you for being here today. I had a feeling before seeing the results, because I trust you and I know you’re sharp. I used to think Murray didn’t want his brother to bother me because he truly loved me; I never thought that kid would be his son.” 

Even his family helped him hide it from the beginning. 

Her voice was choked with tears, but the tears just swirled in her eyes and didn’t fall. 

Maja stayed cool and held her hand tightly. 

“Pull yourself together; what’s your next move?” 

“I really can’t bear to let him go.” Zoey was so feeble and helpless.

As the door closed, she heard the crying from inside.
