Maja went silent, feeling out of her depth with certain things. 

lan’s hands rested on the edge of the bed, his long, handsome fingers gently patting the comforter. 

“Maja, what are you trying to say? I saved you, and yet you seem disappointed. Were you hoping it would be another man to the rescue?” 

His words were serious, his eyes flashing angrily and his lips curled in unmistakable jealousy. 

But Maja didn’t hear his words. By the time he admitted it, her mind had already drifted far away. 

Once at Solstice College, and now this. 

It felt so surreal that she chose to forget the incident at Solstice College, but this time. 

She eyed lan suspiciously. 

lan met her gaze, finding it hard to bear the scrutiny and doubt in her eyes. 

He straightened up, his expression growing stern. 

“Were you really hoping for another man to save you?” 

“No.” Maja answered immediately to prevent him from getting angry, then closed her eyes, seemingly wanting to fall back asleep. 

“What’s wrong? You can’t stand the sight of me?” 

He provoked her on purpose, sitting next to her. 

Maja kept her eyes shut, her voice hoarse, “I’m just tired.” 

lan immediately stopped speaking and even tucked her in! 

“Then sleep, I’ll watch over you.” 

Maja didn’t bother to argue because she genuinely was exhausted. 

But she remembered Zoey had fallen into the water with her, “How’s Zoey?” 

lan replied, “She’s fine, sleeping in another room.” 

Maja didn’t say anything else, this time truly falling asleep 

lan kept vigil, occasionally wiping sweat from her forehead with a tissue. 

But he was clearly not good at caring for others, his movements clumsy, even pulling a few strands of Maja’s hair. 

Even in her sleep, Maja furrowed her brows, making him immediately withdraw his hand. 

He got up and stopped a passing nurse. 

The nurse looked at him, her eyes full of admiration. Ian reached out and took two hairpins from her hair. 

“Do you have any more of these?” 

The nurse was almost fainting, especially from seeing his face up close. 

“Yes, wait a moment.” 

lan returned the hairpins and watched her rush into the break room, returning with several new hairpins in his palm. 

He took them, nodding, “Thank you!” 

The nurse watched him enter the hospital room, sit beside the bed, and carefully put the hairpins in Maja’s hair so it wouldn’t fall on her face anymore. 

She pulled a friend over and sighed. 

“I wish my boyfriend was this considerate.” 

Her friend rolled her eyes. 

“Do you even know who he is? You’re so hung up on him. People call him Mr. Raymond.”

Her friend lightly flicked her forehead. 

“He’s the head of the Raymond family. Do you really think he’s a gentleman? You’re aware of the tactics of these powerful families.”

The young nurse clamped her hand over her mouth, and her romantic fantasies instantly shattered. 

The door to the hospital room closed, restoring silence. 

lan sat at the bedside, suddenly realizing that he had never stayed with Maja this way before. 

She had been married to him for three years, and she must have fallen ill before. Was she always alone in the hospital?
