Chapter 916

Darlene got the memo, she couldn’t be too forward. If she put off lan, it would be a disaster

So, when she was allowed in, she hung around on the first floor, waiting for lan

But she knew lan wouldn’t recover from his injuries that quick so he probably wouldn’t show up in the next few days

She stuck around till the next day, when she spotted a white dog in the yard. Unaware of lan’s dog hair allergy, she assumed it was his pet

So, when she saw a male servant feeding the dog prime cuts of meat, she stepped in

Let me do it. Is this Mr. Raymond’s dog? So cute. What’s its name?”

The servant seemed uninterested and didn’t say much

Darlene guessed the servants were deliberately cold to her, which pissed her off

She daydreamed about marrying lan and getting rid of all these people. She’d have her friends over to serve her like some highborn lady

She smirked, grabbing the meat to find the dog

On her way, she overheard two servants chatting

She probably doesn’t know the dog belongs to Ms. Pennyfeather. Mr. Raymond is quite fond of it.”

Mr. Raymond himself is allergic to dog hair; how could he have a dog?”

Her eagerness really annoys me. How can she compare to Ms. Pennyfeather?”

Darlene’s face turned sour in an instant. She had no clue about lan’s dog hair allergy

So, even with his allergy, he let Maja’s dog stay

What’s so special about Maja

She was livid, staring at the fancy meat in her hand, and chucked it straight into the trash

She thought, this dog deserved such highend meat?

She went to where the dog slept. The dog, missing lan and Maja, seemed down

Seeing no one around, Darlene gave it a hard kick

The dog started barking, probably realizing it was attacked, but Darlene kicked it again, harder

If the animal died, Maja would definitely confront lan, leading to a fight

Their relationship was already on thin ice. Another fight would just end things for good

The dog was kicked a few feet away. It limped up, barking at Darlene

Its leg was broken, and the other was lifted, whimpering

Darlene worried its barks would attract the servants, so she left in a hurry

But the dog kept barking, chained around its neck

The servants didn’t usually chain it, but with lan away and the dog trying to escape

They were worried it might find a way out. If Mr. Raymond blamed them, no one could bear that responsibility

So, now the chained dog could only bark and do nothing else

Darlene gave it another kick, and seeing it fall, she chuckled satisfactorily

When she returned with the plate, a servant asked, Has the dog eaten today?”

It’s already eaten. It seems quite energetic, I didn’t expect Mr. Raymond to take such good care of a pet.”

The servant didn’t respond

Darlene patted her belly. Hurry up with my breakfast. I and the baby are hungry and we need to eat.”

In reality, the servants didn’t like her much. They didn’t understand why she was always so arrogant. When they found out she was really pregnant, they just thought she was lucky, getting pregnant after just one night with Mr. Raymond

Darlene sat on the couch, acting like the lady of the house

The servants sent the order for breakfast to the kitchen

A few hours later, the servantsvoices came from the yard

What’s wrong with Coco? It looks lethargic, sleeping all the time.”

Maybe it’s because it hasn’t seen its owner recently, it’s been off these few days.”

Coco curled up in its nest, its ears twitching, but it didn’t stand up
